in terms of total revenue in the sport the NFL is out in front of EPL or other football leagues. You can argue whether there are other metrics that dictate if it is or isn't the top football code on the planet.

Regardless though, your point was "all major football comps" and you were wrong ... so suck it up and walk away.
Haaa I’m not going to get into a slanging match with you
Btw when is the next nfl World Cup?
Oh that’s right it’s only played in the good old u s of a

The European Champions League soccer I thought generated the most money. You get millions just for qualifying to play in the tournament. They are split in groups of 4 that play each other home and away, then proceed to knockouts where games are played over 2 legs (home and away) with the final played at a neutral venue. When they select the groups they seed the teams so the top teams are separated and not in the same group so they can meet in the finals. Even that system is unfair as some teams end up with a softer run to the finals than others.

NRL should just get rid of the Origin series and have each team play twice. That would be ideal. Top 4 play in the finals 1v4 and 2v3 winners play the Grand Final. That will end up with the same number of game weeks or close to it. That is with 16 teams not 17.

They should play Origin at the end of the season or the beginning as a pre-season opener to the NRL. NRL should be the highest priority not a stupid series against 2 states.

in a 17 team comp you would have 32 games and two byes so thats a 34 week comp plus a final series .. even a 2 week final series like you suggest is 36 weeks.

A few things though:
1. A final 4 will never happen, it expanded to remove dead games from the schedule
2. You are asking teams to play an extra 8 regular season games a year that is taxing and if they expand to PNG or wherever it becomes an extra 10 games a year.
3. The extra few weeks pushes into hotter times of the year. The RLPA will not allow this.

If you want each team to play each other twice then the max comp size is 14 ... That would mean taking teams out of sydney and if you want to grow into other regions take more teams out of sydney.

Yep we are stuck between a rock and a hard place with this problem and I don't think the NRL will change anything for sometime.

There's no need for everyone to play each other twice. At the end of the comp, the best team usually wins.

League should be played, for 52 weeks a year, from Thursday to Monday, and they should also include a mid week comp on a Wednesday, i want to be entertained.

You’re right the cream usually rises to the top but in the nrl there’s a lot of sour cream at the bottom!
The talent pool doesn’t support 17 teams let alone adding any more.
I reckon 12 teams is plenty and then all the teams would be strong no more stupid lopsided scores and full stadiums and yes then could play home and away
IMO

Champions League Revenue - a tick over 3 billion euro
NFL - pushing up towards 17 Billion euro now

its close

and do all teams in the champions league play each other twice?
You should stop, you are embarrassing yourself.

I will concede that if you accumulated all revenue from all forms of the sport under one banner then soccer/football is top of the pops.

But in terms of a single domestic football season the NFL is the biggest by revenue and disproves your point of "All major football comps" running a full home/away comp.

Mate you should be a lawyer!
Remember USA has a population of over 330m
Europe has abt 700 odd
If you add each particular country by revenue eg premier league, serie A , bundesliga, etc it would be many many times more than nfl
Also people in Europe don’t drink Pepsi or eat fast food which is where a lot of the nfl revenue comes from
Haaaa relax mate have another Macca

and that means that NFL is not within the subset of "ALL" major football comps?
I mean sure, keep deflecting away from your original stupid comment.

Oh Yeah the NRL is going to throw away millions of dollars because fans want teams to play each other twice. Yep.

Who cares about NFL? It's rubbish. How many games do they play 12?
