Dolphins look set for another strong season in both competitions. Both competitions have gone up an age group, meaning more familiar faces and hopefully a higher standard that helps bridge the gap between it and the NSWRL junior competitions.

I'll need to dig deeper into the team-lists, but Rasmussen and Garton were stand-outs last year in the Mal Meninga Cup and the Dolphins should have little trouble controlling the ruck. Symonds is a handy pick-up from the Broncos, he's a very mobile type of player who should provide the Dolphins with plenty of options around the football.

One player I'll be keeping a close eye on is Donevski. He had a very unhappy season last year with suspension and while the Dolphins were able to carry on without him, there's no denying his skill. If he can work on his discipline and develop his game, he'll find himself in the NRL sooner than later.

Kingston Seve will also be in action for Burleigh.

Seve was highly sought after and is considered one of the best outside back prospects in the country.

While there hasn't been an official word, it's rumoured that the QRL will announce a streaming platform later in the week. My tip is that the QRL will follow in the NSWRL foot-steps and launch their own platform via vimeo, which isn't too dissimilar from their Clutch TV stream.

The QRL has re-launched QPlus TV ahead of the opening rounds of the Cyril Connell and Mal Meninga Cup.

They're offering a free trial, so it's a good opportunity to get on board and watch the future Dolphins in action.

Plenty of Dolphins made the Queensland Schoolboys U15 & U18 teams but difficult to tell who is signed.

You can cross John-Paul Donevski off the list, he played Jersey Flegg for Cronulla last night.

He looked a likely NRL prospect, his ill-discipline left something to be desired and the U/18s and U/19s seemed to cope without him fine.

LJ NONU

  • NRL affiliate: Dolphins
  • School: Ipswich State High
  • Age: 18
  • Impressive at fullback in the Mal Meninga Cup, the backline talent has since scored two tries in three games at Qld Cup level.

MICHAEL WAQA

  • NRL affiliate: Dolphins
  • School: Wavell State High
  • Age: 19
  • A local Redcliffe product who joined the Dolphins on a train and trial deal during the pre-season last year, but the powerful prop has been outstanding as he moves through the grades.

ZAC GARTON

  • NRL affiliate: Dolphins
  • School: Caloundra State High
  • Age: 18
  • A tough young second rower working his way through the Dolphins system, his got footwork and power has him earmarked for NRL.
Here are some for you I got from another forum I am apart of.

Did anything come out about Waqa, @ALX25?

Garton and Symonds were among the Maroons best and Nonu came up with some big plays against one of their main strike weapons.

Good to see the depth coming through at the club and there's plenty to look forward to in Under 17s.
