Sharks v Manly at Shark Park
2023: Crowd 10,634
2022: Crowd 9,611
2019: Crowd 13,360

Souths v Cowboys at Accor
2023: Crowd 11,262
2022: Crowd 15,264
(not played at Accor 2016-2021, fixture regularly moved to Cairns)

You can combine any of those five crowds and not come up with 30,000, let alone 31k.

Yet there were 31000 people there in Perth tonight, but apparently that's a fail according to some.
Go figure?

This is what people forget. The NRL sent across two relatively low drawing fixtures an achieved a more than 10% improvement on what any other year combo.

Games were also played at 1pm & 3:30pm local time, so the first game especially was played at a poor timeslot for crowds.

Only one fixture this weekend (Broncos v Roosters) will draw more than the Perth DH.

Settle down.
Yes they do.
The NRL aren't treating them very well atm so I understand why they are pissed off.
When the Gold Coast wanted a team, they would buy fixtures and pack it out with sold out crowds... spoiler alert, Gold Coast got a team.
And how exactly are the NRL " treating them "
Giving Them Origins and double headers?
O the horror.

There was 3 NRL games on the Gold Coast between the Chargers and Titans. 2 of which were after the Titans were announced.

Seems like maybe one of them sold out..

If you mean before they got their first team, then I've got no idea what fixtures they had.

I love when people just say stuff and hope it's right and nobody will check.

The Chargers folded in 1998. Brisbane hosted the Warriors at Carrara attracting 15,813 (from memory the ground held 20-21k at the time).

Titans were announced in April 2005.

They neither "bought fixtures" nor "packed out" the venue.

Yeah, given that the first Gold Coast team played out of Tweed Seagulls, which was a great ground to watch the footy but was tiny, I don't know what he's on about.

Got tickets today PAX number 39,511

The Tuesday before Good Friday (aka 3 days prior to the game) in 2023 was 24,597:

Screenshot 2025-04-02 at 9.49.20 PM.png

The final crowd was 35,211.

The Tuesday pax to Good Friday crowd ratio is 0.699.

If you use that as a factor to project this year's Good Friday crowd:
= pax / factor
= 39,511 / 0.699
= 56,525

Obviously we've still got three days of sales before we can do a like for like comparison, but everything appears to be pointing to a crowd in the vicinity of 55-60k.

The top five regular season crowds in Sydney in the past 50 years are:
59,708 - South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Sydney Roosters (2013) at Accor Stadium
51,686 - Canterbury Bulldogs vs South Sydney Rabbitohs (2013) at Accor Stadium
50,668 - Parramatta Eels vs Wests Tigers (2014) at Accor Stadium
45,863 - Parramatta Eels vs St George Illawarra Dragons (2012) at Accor Stadium

Yeah I think the previous DH matches played there were played at 3.30 and 5.30 local time. Bit unusual playing it earlier
