Looks like the Warriors have snapped up Khan-Perreira.If you told coach Webster after the opening round debacle in Vegas that he could fast forward and grab 6th position at the end of round 27 he would have taken it with both hands. The high risk hot potato football of many years gone by has been replaced with a low error high completion rate style which is a much preferred base to work on.
Injuries have cruelled their season but you’d still count it as a reasonably successful one. They just need some extra strike out wide and to fix their right edge defence. An elite winger like Khan-Perreira would be a good fit. There aren’t many genuine centres around but a utility player like AJ Brimson would carve up in that position in a team like the Warriors. Would never happen but they’re the type of players they need.
You don’t have to be a Rugby League savant to work out the tactics here. Get Jesse McLean 1 on 1 with Capewell at every opportunity. A double to To’o and McLean. At least 1 meat pie to Alamoti.
The Warriors looked like they were just going through the motions last week against Manly keeping their powder dry for this game. The worrying thing for Manly supporters is that if Boyd had his kicking radar on, the Warriors would have won. Expect the Warriors to come out aggressively with all guns blazing going set for set until the Panthers just wear them down. Panthers to clear out then coast home to conserve petrol for the challenge ahead.
