Alot we agree on.

I have Parra bottom 4. Are they expected to be much higher?

I think they'd be expecting to be around 7-10.
But I agree with you, they have bottom 4 all over them, especially if the Dylan Brown stuff continues to drag out.

I think they get talked up because of their big fanbase

They ran 16th made limited signings. Still lack a plodder or 2 to do the ugly stuff. Anyone talking them up is crazy

I’m not prone to making bold predictions, but despite the return of Wayne Bennett the one side I am ruling out for the top 8 is the Bunnies. The early injuries to Latrell and Murray are catastrophic to there chances and there were serious doubts around there spine before the injuries. They are currently $13 to endure the most losses in 2025 which I am thinking of plonking a few dollars on.

Latrell is always out but Cody is 36. So they have some roster holes and most other teams got better. Parra haven't but Moses back means the spoon

If Mitchell Moses stays fit and healthy they may challenge for 5-8 but I think they’ll finish outside the 8 just not enough quality or depth to seriously compete against the quality sides.

Bunnies have no spine, Cody is done, no 7 or 9. The midget fullback Gray may have a moment of two but just too small to be a long term option.

Parra have the same issues just with a better coach. Soft forwards and no depth, Not sure they are better than others around them that improved.

I think they are better than Tigers, Souffs and Knights only. Possibly GC but new halves could them

its Wayne - his simple approach is effective - he'll have them competitive

i had them making the 8 but Murray is a huge loss for them - if they can be within distance of the 8 come Origin 3 - they can make the 8 (if everyone is back fit)

I thought Murray was out for the season. Do they expect him back?

I like their halves. If they can get both Moses and Brown on the park for most of the year, that is probably the best halves pairing in the game imo (I really don’t rate Munster).

Mitchell Moses out for Round 1 and could be out for a few weeks apparently. Not good for Eels if true. I’m not sure Volkman is going to deliver.

That sucks for them. Last 5 years I have developed a deeper sympathy for the Eels and their fans (my dad is a huge fan).

they have a lot of money in that halves pairing so need them on the field. Doesn’t look promising.

Ok, so the season is done and we didn't get the 5 peat.
I thought we should look back at what our predictions were for this year.

Which side(s) from the top 8 last year misses out:
A. Cowboys, Sea Eagles and Knights.

Well done Coldwetpanther got it right. Many of us wanted the Roosters to miss out but unfortunately it wasn't to be.
New teams in the 8:
A. Raiders, Broncos, Warriors.

Well done to Whino and Fangs who picked 2 of the 3 new teams. Many of us had the Broncos to return to the top 8.
Our biggest threats:
A. Broncos.

Well done Fangs, Myself, and Hooked. Many had Melbourne as our main threat.
Our rookie of the year:
A. Luron Patea

Congrats to Whino, Aloysius, Chins, Myself, Coldwetpanther, Hooked, Snickers007. We know our juniors well. Others went for Casey Mclean which has a good case for being rookie of the year but the club went with Luron.
Our Best player:
A. Nathan Cleary.

Well done to Whino, Bossley Panther and Hooked. The majority went with Yeo.
Our Top Tryscorer:
A. Paul Alamoti with 17 trys.

Only Hooked had this one. Most had Casey who was our second highest try scorer.
Dally M:
A. James Tedesco.

Silm11 and The Teach got this right. The rest of us prefer Panther players.
Surprise packet(s):
A. Raiders.

Whino saw this one.
Underachiever(s):
A. Knights ( from top 8 to last in a year).

No one got this one.
1st coach sacked:
A. Des Hasler but he did see out the season.

Again nobody spotted this one coming.
Other coaches sacked this year:
A. Adam O'Brien.

Many had O'Brien to lose his job this year. Whino, Aloysius, Chins, Fangs, The Teach, and Snickers007. A few had Benji and Payton to lose their jobs, maybe next year.
Wooden spooners:
A. Knights.

Only Whino got this one. Funny since so many had O'Brien to get sacked.
Buy of the year:
A. I'm going with Terrel May ( stopped the Tigers winning another wooden spoon) and Gehamat Shibasaki ( from trail and train to Kangaroo tour)

Whino had Terrel.
Dud buy of the year:
A. Lewis Dodd, with honorable mentions to Lachlan Ilias, Morgan Harper and Nelson Asofa-Solomona

No one got this one.
Biggest talking point:
A. Lachlan Galvin signing with the Bulldogs.

Who could of predicted this would fill pages of newspapers and hours of drivel on NRL 360.
Points to Whino, myself ( for Laurie Daley losing Origin), Aloysis, Silme11 (for Brisbane).

Some hits and misses in this lot.
Thanks to Whino for starting this thread, hopefully next year we have more people have a go.
Only 4 months till the trials start :)
