The same data is used by the Herald without the explanatory notes.

Yes but you can't average out numbers from 9 rounds across 27 to get a number.

You need the figures for either the whole season or every few weeks to get the number

Especially as the Warriors form fell away big time at the back end of the year

Really isn't that hard.... for anyone with half a brain

Looking over the next 10 to 20 years

In Australia we have

Nrl 180 million
Afl 144 million

Nrl will add Perth bears whilst afl adds Tasmania. Both will add a similar small amount of new viewers maybe 2 million each (maybe bears in Sydney’s could be another 2 million)

Then

Nz currently 13.7 million and growing at ten percent. Second nz side should see that grow to 20 million

Afl zero

PNG

Once the team comes in aggregate weekly ratings should be around 2 to 4 million a week. So anywhere from 45 to 100 million more viewers

Afl zero

Pacific cup and all stars

Currently 8 million

Vs

Afl ??? Is the game against Fremantle even going to continue ?

Nrl could be looking at 300 million in cumulative ratings

Can’t see afl getting to 180 million tops over a decade or two

Pvl has set up rugby league for decades of growth leaving all the local sporting codes in their wake

For comparison on sky games get 80k to 150k mostly

Six nations got 1.7 million so there’s potential there for super league on bbc

Unfortunately in England, SL doesn't have the same broad appeal as international sport does, particulary in the South.

Whats interesting re SL is that despite getting around 1/2 of Australian RL audience it can only get 1/10 the media rights value NRL gets. Soccer sucks up all the media spend it seems.

Wonder how close to a million it got with regionals and kayo / foxtel.

Pre season should be good 3 to 5 million in ratings with the charity shield and pre season comp
Pretty close with regionals and more with NZ.

The sponsorship announcement comes after spectacular viewing figures for the 2025 NRL pre-season, with the All Stars match attracting a record-breaking total audience of 295,000 across the Foxtel Group, representing an 11% YoY over increase and an 18% YoY streaming increase across Foxtel Go, Foxtel Now and Kayo Sports"T."

Foxtel Media has announced its sponsorship line-up for the 2025 National Rugby League (NRL) season, which is set to commence on March 2 in Las Vegas. The season's prelude, the 2025 NRL pre-season All Stars match, drew a record audience of 295,000 across the Foxtel Group, marking an 11% year-over-year increase. Streaming platforms Foxtel Go, Foxtel Now, and Kayo Sports experienced an 18% surge in viewership.

The 2025 season will feature new sponsors including Westpac, BP, Vodafone, Tradie, Complete Home Filtration, Lion, and Aussie Broadband. Returning sponsors comprise Sportsbet, Ford, McDonald's, KFC, Chemist Warehouse, AAMI, VB, Harvey Norman, Toyota, Red Rooster, CBUS, Rexona, Musashi, and Jim Beam.

In terms of naming rights partnerships, Red Rooster will be the naming rights partner for Thursday Night League, McDonald's for the Sunday Ticket, Ford for Friday Night Footy on Fox and NRL360 on Mondays, and Chemist Warehouse for Sunday Nights with Matty Johns. These partners will receive branding opportunities across Fox League studios, including logos, graphic swipes, and live verbal callouts.

The NRL season will kick off in Las Vegas, featuring four new clubs in the Opening Round, Super League, and Women’s International fixtures at Allegiant Stadium. Special Las Vegas editions of NRL360 and The Matty Johns Show will provide coverage and analysis, with Shaun Johnson and Kevin Walters contributing.

Foxtel Media has expanded its inventory across Kayo Sports by 50% this season, with programmatic advertising seeing a 200% year-over-year increase. Additionally, Foxtel Media has partnered with Commbank iQ to introduce over 100 new Character target segments. This development allows brands to target high-value segments and measure sales impact.
