Did he break any tackles during the play? It could be a stat that looks good for him and bad for a Brisbane defender when in reality the eye test shows it was a poor play by Hudson.

This is why I prefer the eye test
If he was trying to create an opportunity to score then he’s doing his job. Its not like the field goal is a high percentage play, especially now they’ve banned blockers.

Skipping outside defenders is one way to create an overlap, and something Young is good at.

He possible made 10m on the run. Thats a decent run metre. Possible a tackle break or 2 as well. But it was just as bad as whoever it was who went back short side with 20 seconds left in extra time.

Every coach in NRL would’ve been yelling for him to run straight down centre to set up the option for Fogarty to kick field goal. The field goal is a high enough percentage play that almost all teams regularly work to have it as option in the circumstances Canbra were facing.
I concur with hindy that some plays have larger impact than what their stat says

Its Luton Town of Rugby League grounds.

An embarrassment to the game.

I just don't understand what the long term vision for the Sharks.

You can't live on 11k home crowds forever.

Its a joke for the regular games, let alone semi finals. Heck North Sydney Oval and Henson Park would be better grounds. Sharks fans dont want to travel, simple as that. Did you see the fans getting interviewed on the news, one bloke said "We deserve to play here and dont want to travel to Accor or Allianz"

I remember we were forced to play our semi at Allianz but we still got a big crowd.

I dont know why Shark Park still looks like a construction site after 5 years.

I watched him, when Canbra should’ve been set up for field goal, start to take hit up centre field then decide to be the hero, crab 20 metres across field, then have a slow play the ball near the right edge.
Their setup/s for a close range field goal were terrible. Not easy to pull off but you know when the panthers and Cleary need a FG it’s almost a forgone conclusion they’ll get positioning and execution right.

The most effective approach combines both methods. Statistics provide a solid, objective foundation, while the eye test provides the nuance, context, and understanding of a player's true impact that numbers can't fully convey.

You’re the one thinks backups have stats as good as first graders. How can you criticise statistics when you don’t understand them?

No. I said I use the eyes test and then check stats after I've watched game. After you had been check mated you have moved goal posts. It was never about Lussick.
Stats are not great if havent watched the game as have no context.
Lomax had the most errors in NRL. How many of those errors where Lomax chasing a bomb and getting a finger to it for a knock on which most players wouldnt even get to?
Or being handed the ball on last in a shit situation. Or drops a horrible pass?

Watch game then check stats is always best.

Well yes in your imaginary alternate scenario where they kicked a field goal, of course it was worse to attack the edge and get tackled.

…. Aren’t you all about risk? The chances of that run leading to a try would’ve been somewhere between just as likely to marginally higher than if he took a hitup centrefield. But by playing off the cuff hero, he took away the mitigation of a field goal attempt as alternative, not just scoring play but highly likely matchwinning play.

Just because almost (because Ray Stone) all tries are scored when not attempting a field goal, doesn’t mean every time you don’t attempt a field goal, you score a try. Nor does it mean the field goal is more risky. It’s just less efficient, but when you’ve only got to score a point, it’s as efficient as a try

They were kicking into wind but still Fogarty has proven to have a decent drop kick. Like Chin’s few months back, you can set up centre field in opponents 10m then fire a pass back to the 30 for what should be unobstructed shot
