Imagine refusing to pick form from 2 months of T20 cricket just before the T20 WC.

Who would do that ?

The ahh "grounding the ball while your body isn't in complete control" rule has been conveniently ignored a number of times this tournament

Those results are entirely plausible...
You forgot to mention the possibility of Ireland vs Zimbabwe being washed out....which is EXACTLY what happened.

Australia are GORRRRRRRRRRRRNE! The two remaining matches in Pool B are now dead rubbers.

Also, not a fan of this predetermination of groups for the Super 8 stage. The ICC also did this during the last T20 World Cup. Essentially, rigging the draw to make things easier for India.

It's definitely an awful system, but the India group only looks easy because we shat the bed.

India, South Africa, West Indies, Australia definitely would have looked the harder group before the tournament.

More concerning is that India give themselves a freebie against a usually hopeless Pakistan every world cup. They can rig it doubly so at home when they can f**k Pakistan around with visa and travel issues.

We must live rent free in these dickheads minds.

Kaif especially what an embarrasment he is.
lol

I dunno, but I couldn't give much of a toss about how NZ does here, I suspect old school cricket fans feel similar about Aust - all teams have a bunch of mashers that won't get near a test side ever... has more financial implications for us, and NZ cricket in turmoil due to the T20 leagues, we might end up like the Windies soon

Will end Maxy's and Stoinis' international career you'd think.

Stoin had that hundred against NZ in the WC. Probably given too many opportunities. Can't really be assigned anything above the word handy. How do you say that in Greek?

Maxwell had a number of memorable moments. One of the more exciting cricketers I can remember. Even has a test hundred. But ultimately fell way short on his talent. Had some moments off field on the piss and Steve Smith publicly questioned his prep towards the game. Had potential to be a much better cricketer.

Also Haze is done too. Marsh questionable too. So we need a big reset in the T20 format. Have to back youth.

My genuine view is that no Test players should be in the T20 side (unless someone springboards that way a la Little Davey).

We're still hanging onto this Diet ODI side approach and hanging on to cooked players on reputations that you were probably never deserved

Beaten by the rain and the fact that we're shit in this format and keep picking the wrong players like a hideously out of form Big Show, Stoinis who hasn't done anything since his 140 odd against NZ a lifetime ago.

Why fly Steve Smith half way across the world and not pick him.

I could keep going but really cbf.

Smithy would absolutely love one more chance of winning a test series in both India and England (England moreso, given the Aussies have slipped up at The Oval in the past two Ashes tours to let England finish with a 2-all drawn series), which is where the Aussies are touring next year. Beyond the 2027 Ashes tour, I'd be very surprised if he continues going around in the test arena.

As for the ambition of making the T20 squad for the 2028 Olympics....ZERO chance of that happening (and that's if Australia even qualifies for it, given that only 6 mens' teams will be competing, according to the IOC draft proposal for the event), given the selectors have been extremely reluctant to pick him since the start of the last T20 World Cup, not to mention he will be 39 by then. He only played one match in that 2022 T20 World Cup (vs Afghanistan) and has subsequently only played 4 T20Is since then, with the last one being nearly two years ago in New Zealand.

Yeah about the olympics

Our pathetic world cup is going to cost us a spot there if the Kiwis make the semi finals

How will Smudge be feeling then.

Resentment, pissed off.

Smudge can walk away at any time and treating a legend like CA have dont rule it out.

It's a simple fix. Just bring in some batsmen and some bowlers and drop Green.

Sorted.

Also, didn't they say last summer than you pick your best batting lineup and then the spots work themselves out?

Tying themselves in incompetent knots. I doubt anything comes of this but if it does I'm glad it was a meaningless T20 tourny we blew and not a proper WC

It's entirely false. The fact is, we are just not doing a very good job.

Tbh if they came out and said look this is a bit of fun format and we don't think a WC that seems to happen just about every year should be our biggest focus, I'd be fine with that.

The problem is that's not the case, and it's exposed again how shit our selectors are
