24 rounds is way too many

Reducing to 22 rounds and stand alone weekends for SOO (with additional content across those weekends) sounds like a very workable outcome. Would it be better to spread out those stand alone weekends across a few months so the momentum of the season is not lost? One weekend in May, June and July separately? A whole month without club matches is a long time for non-rep players to not be playing.
12 teams, 22 rounds. Rest weeks for SOO and another rep round
lower division matches can get coverage in those weeks off

2 rounds less means 16 fewer games for broadcasters. But going from 24 to 22 is alot more workable than going to 18 rounds. Theres no way theyd chop 36 games from the schedule, thats alot of money down the drain.

The likeliest outcome is expansion to 18 teams, with 2 rounds chopped to produce a 22 game season. All up youd lose only 7 games with the addition of a 9th game.

The Origin period is what's killing it. Just stop the NRL for a month while Origin and rep games are played.

NRL until round 11.
1st week (31/5 - 2/6)
Friday night - Women's Origin 1
Saturday - Pacific tests/series
Sunday night - Origin 1

2nd week (7/6 - 12/6)
Friday night - Women's Origin 2
Saturday - Pacific tests/series
Wednesday (12/6) - Origin 2

3rd week (14/6 - 16/6)
Friday night - Women's Origin 3
Saturday - Pacific tests/series

4th week (21/6 - 23/6)
Saturday - Pacific tests/series finals
Sunday - Origin 3

NRL round 12 resumes from the 28/6. Only 11 more rounds for a 22 round comp.
A heck of a lot of footballers won't strap on a boot in anger for well over a month, including the second tier. You need to have a challenge cup knockout in this period and make the prize premiership points so clubs will have an incentive to participate.

Agree something needs to liven up the middle yseason but shortening it is not the answer. As an indication, 3% of respondents in the fan survey said the season should be shorter. People want to watch nrl, not internationals (if the international game was stronger that may change). The NRL is where the TV money is because that's what people want to see. Cutting the season will just reduce the TV money and therefore reduce the value if the game.

The time to do the survey is now not when they did it. You don’t expect to get disinterested but you do. Just get on with the finals. Make the finals longer if need be.
Quality not quantity.

Nope. More top flight RL should be welcomed. It's a jewel in sports endeavour and sports entertainment. More emphasis and promotion of the international games would not go astray!

Any comp where not everyone plays each other twice isn't really fair to begin with

Thats the point of a finals system. Leagues with unbalanced schedules should have finals to decide winner. The regular season is there to weed out the teams not deserving of being crowned champion.

Nowhere near enough games. The off season should last no longer than a couple of days. Like the EPL

At least give the fans an international between the Kangaroos & England/Great Britain Lions! Even that's too hard to arrange during an actual Lions tour with NRL talented players along with a respected Aussie coach running the British team! Spare me the incompetence!

Hence we wind up with Raiders yet to beat a top 5 team but are in the top 4.

4 point loss to Roosters, 4 point loss to Manly, 4 point loss to Souths, 12 point loss to Storm. PD of over 150.

For what it's worth, the finals will see Raiders end up with nothing, but they're absolutely deserving of having an opportunity to win the premiership.
