The arguement for Watson moving down the order is his bowling can be of more used, because unlike others he pitches it up and allows it to move. But i guess the other side of that is perhaps he works better only bowling 10-15 overs per innings, a bit of a change up to take a few wickets.

Not sure who else would open long term either. I can see in a couple of years something like

(opener)
Hughes
Khawaja
Watson
Clarke
Smith/Fergusson/White

Who else is an opener out there at the moment?

There isn't really any openers coming through at the moment, Khawaja could probably do it but I am inclined to leave Watson there TBH. Look what happened when we moved Clarke to 4.

missed the first session, but from all reports Strauss has been pretty defensive , even when we were 3/10.

Got the feeling poms are now waiting for us to get ourselves out , so lets be conservative to do that. If hussey, watson,North ,haddin play to their abilioty, keep their heads, we should get over 600.

who gives a flying brick about whats gonna happen in 2 months time let alone 2 years

we got an ashes series we need to win NOW

Pick your best players in their best positions.

Hughes will eventually come in and partner Watson at the top, so injuries aside , test openers are the least of our worries for the next 5 years at the very least

Can't believe the criticism of Clarke, since 2008, he Ponting and Katich have been our 3 most prolific run scorers.

My criticism of him is that he is clearly injured and not fully fit and he should stand aside until his back is better. By constantly saying he'll be fine, when he isn't, is selfish and harmful to the side's overall performance.

Maddinson is talented no doubt, but looks very, very raw. If I were a selector, I'd be almost forcing him to play country cricket as well as telling - not asking - telling the state selectors to put him in the side.

I do, I look forward to Ricky retiring and enjoying cricket again.

I have not been to game in two years and will not until Punters reign of mediocrity is over.

Australians producing absolute roads just like India......
In fairness Adelaide has always been a road

Gabba is usually a better cricket wicket than that, but i guess with the amount of rain it was underprepared and by day 3-5, when it had dried out a bit, it was more like a day 1-2 pitch.

WACA will be interesting, apparently a bit more in it for the quicks again.

Melbournes always been pretty dead.

Sydney has livened up alot the last couple of years, and the amount of rain in Sydney this spring/summer should ensure something decent there.

Punter the captain yes, not the batsmen and fielder, nothing but respect there.

I was over Punter man love two years ago.

As for Clarke, will wait and see his influence at the selection table before I pass judgement.

More worried about's Clarke's ability to stay fit.
