So what happens here for Australia? Happy with the same team, with Khawaja coming in for Marsh? Not sure Boland or Zampa change things considerably.

For NZ, I don't think we can find a run for Munro, unless Elliott drops out. Or maybe Bracewell comes in for Milne. Certainly no need for change...

Stoinis is the ploddiest plodder to ever plod. Our selectors are deadset just chucking darts and picking whoever they land on

Wouldn't mind Munro in for Elliott and Bracewell getting a game - maybe if we win game 2?

Milne needs to be managed, he's very quick but doesn't do enough to worry the Aussies imo, if the deck has a little in it Boult, Henry and Bracewell probably a more dangerous attack against them. They do like Milne's pace though, understandably.

For the Aussies, I doubt they'll read much into one game (from their perspective) - but mine, and I suspect others around the world is that against a bit of movement they can be vulnerable.

Biggest change for Game 2 is likely to be Williamson and Smith doing a bit better with the bat

Do we reverse the batting order and play tip and run and French cricket rules to give the crowd a competitive game?

Khawaja surely has to come in. Marsh, while a bit unfairly maligned on here in terms of ODI cricket, is nothing more than a handy back up. There'd struggle to be a batsman in the world who matches Uzis form in the last two months or so.

Our bowling attack is awful though, and will get worse without Faulkner, so changing the batting might not matter anyway. How Watson didn't get a call up is beyond me, he's an excellent limited overs player.

And he would have reviewed that decision  (at least if he was the batsman hit)

Milne is the investment in limited overs cricket and he is going to WCT20. Bracewell is not (he is only in the squad because McLeanaghan and SOuthee are injured). It makes little sense just playing Bracewell for the sake of it at Milne's expense. If they wanted to give Bracewell a run for the test series purpose, it would be best at Henry's expense - who was dropped from the test squad and is not going to the WCT20.

I almost fear that Henry's ODI form and Southee's injury will bring him into test calculations where he just gets spanked again bowling lower pace dross.

Watson is competing with Marsh, Henriques, Christian etc for 5th bowler and bat 6.

Faulkner bats 8 and is the fourth bowler.

Slightly different roles.

They called up an opener, your point isn't very well made.

That doesn't mean my point is not well made at all. It is a non sequitur.

I didn't see much of Stoinis bowl in the BBL, and none of him in the Matador Cup, but his selection does appear a bit "chancey". He has very good economy rates for the overs he has bowled. And he did get wickets in the BBL.

He is a medium pacer at best, but then again so is Grant Elliott and he is reasonable at ODI level. That is sort of the type of player Stoinis is as a comparison.

Lol at naming Christian!

He's diabolical!

Well that is very harsh. He could have got some more runs, but he did a good job for Australia with the ball.

It is as though you expect these all rounder guys to bat like Bradman and bowl like Lillee.

He got one go batting at 6 and scored 39 off 36. here are some other useful batting performances:

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/518962.html

His bowling was good in those games to boot.

But hey, call him diabolical - I mean Watson is not good enough for a lot of Australian fans.
