What about Tamale stood out to you?
I was really looking forward to Egan and Tamale getting a run and neither of them did anything of note to me. Not that that is a huge issue given they are both so young and learning their craft.
I am hoping that they have blown away the rust and can just attack the game a bit more this week, ideally with more support from seasoned first graders. Not just thrown to the wolves with the rest of the NSW cup team
I'm not sure what some people expect from youngsters in a trial.
Egan and Tamale stood out to me because of their involvement, line speed, defence and support play.
Egan 22 tackles, no misses and a great front on tackle technique, hitting guys like Koloamatangi, Keppie and Host around the waste and stopping them in their tracks. He didn't get much ball but was there often in support in case of an offload. Tamale 9 runs for 86 mtrs and 29pcms. The first thing he did when he ran on in the 2nd half (about 10 minutes in ??) was race into the middle of the park to take the first hit up from a changeover and proceeded to bend the line with 3 tacklers holding on. His line speed and support play were very enthusiastic. I think he's mainly a centre but I wonder if he's played any fullback. Lots of metres, tries and linebreaks in reserves last year but still a kid. His defence looked good in the CS but was a bit ordinary in KOE Cup - I'm sure he'll improve, he's still growing.
