Ford has played well 2 weeks in a row

Previously, he has had a good week every once in a while, shit games more frequently than those and been generally middling while getting in the way of players who are better

I want him to keep playing like this. I hope he will. But saying 2 good games like him makes his doubters look silly is like saying 2 good games from us makes our doubters look silly.

"Balance" LMAO. At this very moment in time, Ford is both the most overrated player according to this forum (as he has been for years) and also literally the most overrated player on Earth. Relentless criticism is required to achieve any sort of balance in Jackson Ford punditry.

I have given him points this week and last week. Not sure what else you want.
I meant fans in general, not you personally. I actually gave Boyd points in Round 1, and maybe I should’ve given him some again this week. But it also made me realise that none of this happens without the incredible forward pack we’ve got and that definitely includes 70 + minutes x 2 Jackson Ford.

A lesser coach wouldn't have got to where we are now with Ford. OK, it's two weeks in and a fortnight doth not a season make, I get that. But two insane performances from a guy that a lot of us would have binned 2-3 years ago.

I'm 100% all in on Webby now, OK there's the things we struggle with in the persistence with Dallin etc but the guy clearly has the command and love of all his players, and knows how to get the best out of them.
Yep. The same naysayers were putting the boot into Pompey, DWZ and Ford. I was guilty with DWZ but it goes to show how much we don't know as fans.

Webster deserves me calling him Webby again for his patience and vision overall with players that would have been disposed in any other club.

Overstating it? He’s a decent first grader who’s improved and fills a role… nobody is saying he’s Payne Haas.

Exactly, and he's leading the Dally Ms. Can't get much more overhyped than being a modestly gifted honest trier currently ranked the best player in the comp according to the official "best player in the comp" award standings.

Go to a game and watch his output. I've been somewhat of a naysayer in the past (far from the biggest one on here, mind you) but I watched him in round 1 and honestly, the guy was on one of those dials you turn over and over to keep the kid's toy going, and it was stuck on go.

And no doubt it is two rounds. I am happy to temper it with that. He needs to do it for longer to grow his reputation.

But the guy shaped up to what was hyped as one of the best forward packs in the comp in round 1, then again in round 1, and was the best player on the ground both times. He was the best player in our trial game v the Phins.

At the moment, if you say he's one of the most overrated players in the world (no you said literally he is) then I think you might be stuck in an echo chamber.

To go from being a bog average second rower when he came to the club, to a guy who can match up with any pack in the comp, play more minutes than them and punch out more metres, more post contact metres and more tackles, is a hell of a thing.

Can we make a list of guys who play 70 or so minutes, lead the tackle count, nigh on lead the metres gained as Ford does?

He's leading because he's been the best on ground (could argue Tanah this week) in two massive wins over potential top four sides. What else do you want him to do? Kick goals? Have an afro? Have a sweet nickname like Mr Effective? He really can't do much else to earn your respect.

Can you explain what you mean by this? I'm not really following because your post sets out how well he's doing and how much he deserves the praise he's receiving, but then you say calling him overrated means I'm in an echo chamber, which suggests he isn't receiving praise?

Quite simply, I didn't think he was the best on ground either week (definitely played well though) and then you have to also put that in the context of Dally M points invariably going to spine players and "name" players.

I absolutely agree that Dally M points should go to the actual best player on the field and not the best "name" player on the field, but as it stands Ford getting MOTM twice in a row is an outlier. It's unusual for a high work rate role player to get max points once, let alone twice in a row.

As for "most overrated in the world", well it's a pretty small world and he's leading the race for the biggest individual award within that small world and yet he's not a top-50 player, so I think there's a logic to that claim.

Can't believe we're actually having this conversation tbh, the only situation in which this would ever arise is the almost unfathomable situation of JACKSON FORD LEADING THE DALLY Ms....but here we are. Reality is stranger than fiction.

Honestly it would be just my luck/testament to my jinx powers if this bloke went on to become a superstar of the comp 🤣 All power to him.

Echo chamber probably the wrong term, although there are a few Ford haters on here. Cognitive bias? Whatever it is, do you think you can get to a point to praise Ford if he deserves it? Because to me if Barnett, Fish etc bust out those two weeks of output, they’d be universally lauded
