Exactly, because its killing itself.

T20 has more to do with it than the over rates. Players are choosing to play T20 for bigger money, like the Saffas are doing now and the Windies have been doing for a while.

They can make a living out of T20 where as they can't make a living out of test cricket.

Something wrong there but if the over rates improved, I don't think it would make any difference to players chasing the $$$$

Umpires should also be banned for players not hitting the over targets, the allow the slow pace game after game yet nothing is done.

not true, teams get fined for slow over rates, probabaly not enough and its water off a ducks back, but to say nothing is done is simly not true

How pathetic is our continuing use of bombing the tail and letting them wag.

If the top order batsman are struggling with line and length what hope have incompetent bowlers who bat got.

especially on this pitch, Melbourne and Perth had a bit of spice but this is a batsman friendly pitch

we've been doing this for as long as I can remember and it just doesn't work

I think the point is, what's done on the field? Nothing.

If I'm running slow in old men's shire cricket the umpires pull me up for it during play. These ICC blokes just dodder about making notes in a pocket book

It keeps happening and if anything it's getting worse, so yes nothing is being done to stop the problem.

on the pitch, yes, I agree

these so called match umpires need to get serious, try taking test match points off them or something similar because these fines are petty tbh

Like I said elswhere, make them bowl the overs. Run til it's dark if you have to, spin only. If it's unsafe, add them onto the next day.

On top of the fines and points they dock already I reckon a few 110 over, 9-7:30 days will get teams in line.

What about the fans? 78 overs in 6 and a half hours is only 12 overs per hour.
When they want to push for an extra over before a break they hustle.
