fun fact: Poms have now gone 10 tests without a win coming into this test

Prior has stepped aside, you'd assume Butler in.
Maybe 1 or 2 other changes?

I would seriously go:

1-Mitchell*
2-Robson
3-Ballance
4-Bell
5-Root
6-Moeen Ali
7-Foster+
8-Broad
9-Plunkett
10-Anderson
11-Kerrigan

12-Woakes

They don't have the guts to make the changes though, except the forced one of Prior - and they'll take the easy option with Buttler.

As much as I hate the Indian cricket team I have to say I'm enjoying watching the Poms implode

England with an unchanged squad except for Buttler for Prior. Gutless poodles. India 2-0.

Kevin Pietersen: I'd love to play for England again... I want to win the World Cup and avenge Ashes debacle

22 July 2014

Kevin Pietersen has reiterated his desire to return to the England side following the latest Test defeat by India. England's all-time leading run scorer was dropped in the aftermath of Ashes series whitewash in Australia.

But Monday's 95-run defeat at Lord's extended England's winless streak to 10 Test matches and sparked fresh calls for out-of-form Alastair Cook to be dropped and stripped of the captaincy, opening the door on a possible return for the 34-year-old.

And Pietersen admited he had unfinished business on the international stage
'Over the next 12 months there's an opportunity to win a World Cup in Australia and to get the Ashes back. To pick up a trophy with the England team would be sensational and to avenge what has happened over the past 12 months would be what dreams are made of.

'What I know i could bring to that England team is helping those youngsters play a brand of cricket which would develop their games .

'Having a player in the middle order that plays a positive brand of cricket, helps a lot of the players around him too.

'You look at (Ian) Bell, who's struggling at the moment. I know how Rooty (Joe Root) feels about his batting and he's going to be a superstar. I worked with him for a while and it would be nice to continue that work.

'I always gave 100 per cent to the England team in training and on the cricket field and who knows, maybe in the dressing room I could have helped a few of the others play differently

Trott back belting out tons in county cricket

Could one of KP or Trott (or both) make a test recall before the end of the summer over there?

Would love to see Trott back so Johnson/Steyn and friends can carve the smug bastard up again. Granted he had a couple of purple patch years, but that doesn't make him as good as he and others think he is.

Its a common pattern actually, Cook, Swann, Prior, even Freddie to some extent had a great run for a couple of seasons and suddenly everyone though they were god's gift. The true greats of the game maintain their standards, even if its a shorter career (i.e. Shane Bond).

KP (like him or not) is a good enough player to bounce back and score runs.
His problems are always off the field.

Bringing back KP won't help England for a number of reasons. Firstly he's not a team player, secondly he's shown to have no respect for authority. Thirdly, he was in horrible form in both formats prior to being canned.

The KP years are over.

Poms won toss and will bat

India being 1-0 up, not surprisingly add an extra batsman
Jordon/Woakes in for Plunkett/Stokes, Butler in for Prior for the poms

England Team
AN Cook*, SD Robson, GS Ballance, IR Bell, JE Root, MM Ali, JC Buttler†, CR Woakes, CJ Jordan, SCJ Broad, JM Anderson

India Team
M Vijay, S Dhawan, CA Pujara, V Kohli, RG Sharma, AM Rahane, MS Dhoni*†, RA Jadeja, B Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Pankaj Singh

Will be interested to see how they go. Woakes is a great cricketer but lacks penetration. Likewise how will India to without Ishant who was phenomenal at Lords?

Think Binny was hard done by. He bowled well but had no faith from Dhoni.

I have a gut feeling this will be Cooks day, a captains 100 aka Steve Waugh at the SGC to silence the critics. Should be an emotional time when he gets the triple figures

Cook 1*

Cook dropped on 19.

I will never forgive Jadeja if he gets back into form here.

Lol can't believe people want KP in the test side. He doesn't play county cricket because he's an arrogant merkin and has done f**k all in the only form of cricket he plays. It's the best thing England cricket did after the ashes.

On the game itself, Ballance continues to grow as a player. No frills player who will fight all day for his side.

That might be the innings Cook needed to get back into form. Not pretty but runs next his name. Could only boost his confidence.

KP the batsman is very capable of helping England out of this rut.
KP the person is only capable of ruining everything else.

Its a balancing act, Michael Vaughan knew how to get the best out of him and Freddie without letting those two ego's destroy the team. Cook and Strauss (through no fault of their own) couldn't do it.

KP will not be playing cricket again for England and he will definitely not be picked while Peter Moores is coach and Cook is captain.
A lot of people need to remember KP and Moores fell out big time in 2009.
