4 Competition points

Never been a fan of the idea of staggering competition points based on how much you win by and never will be.

In my opinion it becomes too confusing for the average league fan. So lets keep it simple.

things are fine the way they are.....

teams get a reward for havibng a good F/A 3 points separated 6th from 7 last season....

that is a decent reaward for three points

If we were to bring in 4 competition points, i think it would be best used to make Golden Point a bit fairer.

4 points for a win.
3 points for a GP win.
2 points for a draw.
1 point for a GP loss.

Although i'd still rather keep 2 competition points, and just remove GP altogether.

Good idea.

...and hands up who thinks the Super 14 is any better/worse for having it anyway?

I care not for yawnion, but their bonus point system allows (and has allowed) teams to take a finals berth from a team with a better win loss record. Not good.

This system though, 70% of wins are more than six points, so would hardly register.

Personally I think the Super 14 system is great...it rewards attacking footy and has leaves a lot more teams "live" in the run up to the end of the season

It has to reward attacking footy, because it has bugger all of it.

Um, isn't 2 points for a win enough?

If you are going to vary it - give em an extra point for an away win.

Then again, if you are sick of 3 teams vying for position 8 in round 26, scrap the cap, and have the top 8 decided in June, and watch the crowds plummet in July and August with so many sides not able toe make the 8.

The NRL has the best product of the lot. Most exiting. Best spectacle. Least predictable. Most athletic. High profile in domestic, interstate and international.

Whith all of that, why is there urgent need to follow other lame sports who can't keep up? It's like Federer changing his style to mimic the bloke ranked 250th.

Umm we are not talking about adding 2 breakaways and lineouts

Just the points allocation for results

5 teams vying for the 8 in round 26 is better than 3

Matches are live longer with teams trying to get a bonus point for extra try or within a certain amount

Federer/Nadal would still flog the bloke ranked 250th if each set was first to 9 games or the same as badminton/squash etc etc

The day we need to ape Super 14 is the day we just hand the keys over to O'Neill.

The best S14 ratings on Fox are 1/2 that of a normal NRL game and it was dropped by FTA TV because of a complete lack of interest. That should be a warning in itself.
