4 field goals wtf!

Wigan vs. Warrington, round 5, Warrington win 24-12. The first thing you think when you see that scoreline is 4 tries to 2, no missed conversions. But Warrington only scored three tries.

So then you think fair enough, poor discipline by Wigan, 3 tries 3 conversions 3 penalties.

But no!

3 tries, 3 conversions, 1 penalty and 4 field goals are how they got their 24 points!

Lee Briers did the work by kicking 4 field goals in the second half. Surely that's never been done in GB or Australia since the scoring system saw the field goal reduced to a single point.

They were already in front at that stage. Reads like he just kept chipping away whenever they were down there?

I think it was all second half between 50 and 65 minute stage, and they were interspersed with some penalty goals as well. Maybe Wigan were playing a spoiling game in their own half, and Briers knew the only way to make advantage of their attacking position was to keep converting a point each time, and get the ball back from the kick-off?

Yeah coincedentally, Briers kicked the ball out on the full with a couple of seconds left on the clock. from the resulting play in the Wire half Fax scored under the sticks.
