So far, we have had France, png, Wales and now Samoa. I think this will be the best chance ever to upset one of the big boys or at least give them a scare. Samoa played really well against nz in the rlwc. If anything, it will give the sport a huge boost in Samoa itself! Looking forward to the four nations!

Hard on Fiji. You could argue that finishing 4th at the WC should have been enough. However, it is clear Samoa are the 4th strongest nation on paper.

There is the potential to add Mose Mosoe, Harrison Hansen, BJ Leulia, Sai Soliola, Tony Puluetua, Anthony Milford and even Steve Matai to that side for the autumn. Should be competitive if their heads are screwed on.

I feel so bad for Fiji. They have truly been robbed.

Too a degree yes, but if you arent good enough on the night. Whlst Fiji may have finished 4th at the WC, they lost the one that counted, kinda like minor premiers losing a Grand Final, they werent good enough when it counted. Losing their half back hurt them during the game.

Didn't he just switch, meaning he can't go back? Or was he already Qld and they failed to convince him to switch to Samoa?

He can write to rlif and request to switch back to samoa. But would then be "stuck" with samoa until after next wc

I was surprised Petero was rolled out again, he made quite a thing out of retiring at the RLWC.
Whilst he didn't let anyone down I thought it showed a negative mindset on behalf our the Fiji hierarchy.

I was hoping Fiji would win but congrats to Samoa.

Pretty sure that you aren't counted for a country until you actually play for them (at least they were the rules). So until Milford plays for Australia he isn't down as an Australian rep.

If he wants to play for Samoa, it's up to the Origin selectors whether he will be prevented from representing QLD too. Origin doesn't have any impact on international eligibility, and international eligibility only impacts origin as far as the selectors want it to.

what nigel wood nees to do is actually publish the eligibilty laws so there can be no doubts or queries as to what the laws are because everyone from players, coaches, adminstrators & journos all have different answers...

take feleti mateo, scott carter publicly stated he was a tongan player until he actually plays for australia, nsw selection meant nothing....then he missed out on the world cup because someone told tonga he couldn't play because he "elected" to switch nations....

thats bollocks....danny brough "elected" to switch from scotland to england....and still played for scotland

Samoa could field a far stronger side by years end.

Would be interesting to see how many of last nights players (barring injury) will be in the 4 Nations squad and how many first graders will be added.

Samoa were competitive against New Zealand.

yeah but as is the case with all pacific sides...they have no halves....

Milford and Ben Roberts.
Probably the most solid pairing in the pacific and certainly won't look out of place.
If Samoa are full strength they should remain competetive, even seriously push NZ or England if they're playing poorly.

Nothing like the also-rans of previous competitions.
