Melbourne, if not stripped of points - would currently be coming 6th on F and A. A loss to Penrith next week would probably see them out of the 8. They are equal with last years spooners, whose major purchase came from a detox unit in a far north Queensland jungle.

Wow - that's really worth spending $5.9 million on a team!!!!!!!!!

I hate being a voice of reason considering we're talking about those cheating scum, but they've deliberately dropped a few good players to blood youngsters for next season. Guys like Mcdougall, Tolman etc would be getting the gametime they did at the start of the season otherwise, but they're better off playing the O'Neill's and Norrie's for the long term benefit to the club.

Cool... so the team who cheated the cap are coming sixth... yet last year's minor premiers, who are leading the comp this year, are able to fit Gasnier into their cap? Good to see the cap is working!

And what about the Brisbane and Manly teams who smashed the 'cheating scum' in their respective grand finals? You don't beat a team who is over the cap by $1 million by 40 points unless you're doing exactly what they were doing!

Get your hand off it. That logic is so moronic. So are you also saying that every team to beat Melbourne during that period were also over the cap? Just because they over pay players, which has allowed them to keep a couple of extra superstars, it doesn't mean they are unbeatable. Even the best can be put off their game when the opposition play well enough, Brisbane and Manly just wanted it more on the day.

As for how Melbourne are performing this year, well you can see that they have switched off a bit. The intensity isn't as high as it would be if 2 points is on the line. Not to mention the fact that despite being over $1 million over the cap this year, they are still a weaker side than in previous years.

Has to be.

I hate the Storm as much as anyone but they were bound to start losing at some point in the season, especially after Origin. They have nothing to play for and now Origin is gone I'd say most of their 'stars' will be in cruise mode to the end of the season.

So yeah, stupid thread.

Can't compare a team over the cap with a huge hunger for a premiership to a team over the cap playing for nothing/unsure where they will be next year.

My vote for dumbest thread.;-)

THis thread is awful but I doubt it would win the vote. Loudstrat has many pearl threads - I think his "deunionising" thread was particularly inaccurate but for mine Ennis/Farah and "I do not like Jarryd Hayne because ...." threads are the toe jam on an athlete's foot.
