This is the situation where we can gauge whether Bailey is test standard or not..

Massive opportunity for him..

Australias top order is still as fragile as it was in the summer, major difference in this series is Johnson wiping our tail out for next to nothing and Australia adding another 150 runs when they go 5 down.

Aussies have improved as a side but the batting is still suspect for mine.

Haddin bailed us out in the first innings of the first 3 tests when we were 6/132 in Brisbane, 5/257 at Adelaide and 5/143 in Perth. Very close contender for man of the series so far. I agree with Timbo that we can't keep expecting him to throw us a lifeline but in the context of this match with the slow run-rates compared to the previous 3 tests, as well as the fact it will be nearly 40 degrees tomorrow, the Aussies will need him to also step up with a solid contribution once again if we are any chance of posting a solid lead at the end of our 1st innings

Close? For me he's a mortal lock. Without his efforts thrice under pressure the efforts of Johnson and co. are for nothing.

And to think we dumped him for Wade.

You're kidding right? He didn't even see it and totally switched his hands at the last second.

I'm not kidding. Just because Bell was a tard and went the wrong way doesn't make it a good catch

If he dropped that he would have dug a hole to hide in

Kerry O'Keefe retiring after the Sydney test. That sucks.

WHAT! No way!:(

Australias top order is still as fragile as it was in the summer, major difference in this series is Johnson wiping our tail out for next to nothing and Australia adding another 150 runs when they go 5 down.

Johnson with the ball, Haddin/Clarke/Warner with the batting (5 100s and 5 50s between those 3 batsmen, not to mention Haddins batting in the 1st innings of the first three tests when we were on the ropes) and Haddin's wicketkeeping have been the difference between the sides this series.

Although the scoreline was 3-0 earlier in the year, the contest was much closer than the scoreline suggests and compared to most who thought we were going to get our arses wiped at home, I always believed we were a big chance of winning here in Australia if we sorted out our batting. Although there is still some weaknesses in our top 6, Haddin/Clarke/Warner have risen to the occasion this series.

The Poms only dominated Australia in the Lord's test. Australia would've definitely won in Manchester had it not been for the rain, were a 50/50 chance of winning in Nottingham and were well on the way to winning in Durham before that terrible batting capitulation in the 4th innings. Being 1/147 chasing 299 before losing 9/77 is unforgivable.

Rogers has done enough to stay in the team, but geniused play like that won't help his cause.
Should have been aiming to carry the bat while the others work around him.

Two new batsmen, if England are good enough they can bowl them out with a solid lead.
