Gee some piss poor batting today, Bailey looks like a guy with a FC average in the 30's. Not a test cricketers arsehole.

Dumb decision to bowl first and it will now bite us on the arse.

Nice to hear the English chirping again. Half my family have been silent since Brisbane. Now. After today it's just like when England won one live test in 16 years when it actually mattered. C'est la vie :)

Bailey is the kind of guy who has stepped up to every level, despite not seeming ready for it. In this case though, he really looks like he's completely lost at test level. One more test at the SCG for a significant score from him, otherwise I'd leave him out. Watson down to 6, and find someone for first drop. Lynn or Doolan for mine.

I would love to see Haddin and Lyon pull off a batting performance similar to Hussey and McGrath in the 2005 Boxing Day test, where the 10th wicket pair put on more than 100 to save the Aussies first innings. Haddin will have to take nearly all of the strike though.

Australia was 9/248 and got to 355, courtesy of Hussey's brilliance. McGrath's contribution mustn't be understated though, surviving 2 hours at the crease.

The MCG is always a slow two paced pos.

Blame the AFL.

They got their way and drop-in pitches have been used at the G since the early '90s. They also got Adelaide Oval to use drop-in pitches, and have been lobbying strongly for the Gabba and SCG to follow suit (in addition, talks of cricket being moved from the WACA to the new Perth Stadium in 2018, which would also use drop-in pitches). It will be a sad day for cricket in this country if those grounds cave in.

Or we can be all out without adding to the overnight score, Im sure there were times that has happened as well.

Having said that, id be happy if we bat for an hour and run down 40-50 runs.

We missed a trick by not having a few more wickets in hand, considering it will be stinking hot tomorrow. This game is for the poms to lose

For the australian first innings this afternoon, the victorian crowd witnessed what they usually see during the winter

Disappointing

How has he stepped up at every level? He is 31. His best days should be on his record. He averages 38 overall in first class cricket including 20 over the last season. He has never shown anything special at first class level.

He was picked purely on one day form which shows a) how stupid our selectors are and b) how much these selectors disrespect shield cricket

P.S. Doolan is also going along at a mediocre level this season

Twenty20 and ODI. I am also referring to how he was selected as captain for both these sides. His selection based on ODI form alone was always going to be iffy. I have no issue with people questioning his place in the side. If he performs poorly in the next 3 innings, I'm happy for him to be left out of the plane for SA.

1. Warner
2. Rogers
3. ??
4. Clarke
5. Smith
6. Watson
7. Haddin

Regardless, there is no room for Hoos, no matter who you deathride. The last thing we need is to see another 5 to 6 tests from him in the top order...praying that he'll come good, only to have another weakness exposed by the opposition, and for him to mentally disintegrate......again.
