Discussion of the 5th and Final Match in the One Day Series against South Africa.

Let's hope Australia can salvage something from the series and restore a bit of pride.

I'd like to see a younger batsman given a shot in the middle order, given the dead rubber status of the match. Someone like Travis Birt or even Phil Hughes with Marsh at 4...

Is supposed to be fit for NZ, so I imagine the selectors have a lock on him, would like him released

Anyway not a bad side, Duss replaced by a true Victorian

Cant see Bracken playing even if fit, its a dead rubber and plenty more games to come

I'd pick Bracken anyway, he's our only consistently good bowler and it was only a mild strain from the reports I read. I'd also hope they don't rush Siddle, as much as I'm against him being in the side right now because I feel we need a swing bowler, I think he's an important part of our bowling future and I'd hope they didn't endanger that by rushing him into the side after stress fractures in his back.

I also think Birt and Hughes need to be in the side ASAP. For all the talk of Marcus North (and he's a good player, don't get me wrong) I just think that Birt is as good with the bat, has more improvement in him and is the kind of guy who can either hang around or bash bowlers into submission. He's become consistently good for Tassie and would strengthen the middle order a hell of a lot. As good as Warner will be in future, he's very raw and needs state cricket IMO. Hughes has shown a level head, a brilliant ability and has developed a slightly crazy but effective technique for the start of the innings that gets him a lot of runs...

Drop Mike Hussey to 6, or cut from the team altogether. Starting to lose consistency in ODI's, especially with coming in early. Drop Dussey, bowled sh*t, batting sh*t. Drop White who is in there as a specialist lower order batsman.

Birt has been in good form but I don't know about these big hitters as they have a knack for throwing their wicket away. With our middle order atm we need a guy that won't throw his wicket away like a Steve Waugh.

Hauritz and Harris are out of the squad.

It will be interesting to see which spinner they pick for the last 4 ODIs against NZ

7 ODI's back he got 85 and 5 ODI's back he got 57 not out he was a bit unlucky yesterday but looked good 6 is his spot in the one day game though he's a good finisher

Dave Hussey is absolute garbage he will not ever cut it a an International middle order batsmen.. He also can't field and bowls crap.. WTF has happened to Australian cricket there are zero young players coming through putting pressure on these old farts...

I was one of them but his form in this ODI series has not been good enough for mine

Whilst this is true, unless we get some new blood, we will lose it in RSA anyways.
