It used to be the 2nd but for some reason they moved it to the 3rd for South Africa in 09 and it's been there since. I'd prefer the 2nd.

doesn't this test usually start on the 2nd?

This is the 3rd year I think it has started on the 3rd

Prior to that it was the 2nd. ICC suits decided 3 day buffer was required between each test.

So if the MCG test finished on the 30th (5th day), the 2nd Jan would fall as only 2 days rest, hence the move to the 3rd

I must admit I prefer the 2nd as well. Thats what test cricket is all about, at times playing back to back tests, survival of the fittest , physically and mentally

IIRC there used to be a ODI right after NYE

wasn't the game where Bev hit a 4 off the last ball on NY day?

That's strange because South Africa are playing India tomorrow.

How much rest do think is f**king required?

It's cricket FFS. You use about as much energy as a day at the beach

Good decision, didn't like Bollinger back in the side. He digs craters in the pitch that Swann would have a field day with. Copeland should have been picked and I don't care what anyone says he is our best young quick!

Lol at Beer..Mr "average 60" playing on the SCG for the first time..he will be crapper than the old bastard McGain! Plus now we have TWO Victorians in the side, dear god.

Well our astute selectors probably didnt want to play 2 left arm pacemen

but they will go with 2 right armers

whats the difference, Notch has had his day he wont bowl that well again

Dougy would be a safer bet
