Granted quite a few tests as keeper for Bairstow. However this article before the India test series states that he averages slightly less when he isn't keeping:

England’s task in India is not to make Bairstow feel like he is on trial once again. While Alec Stewart averaged 12 runs more in Test cricket from 1990 to 2003 as a specialist batsman than wicketkeeper, Bairstow averages slightly fewer – 36.6 compared to 37.6 – when picked for his batting alone. One explanation is that, without the security provided by the gloves, Bairstow has felt closer to the trapdoor.

---

He tops the list of some names mentioned so far however:

- Jonny Bairstow 99 tests at 36.42 (First class average of 42.82)
- Mark Butcher 71 tests at 34.58 (First class average of 40.70)
- Graeme Hick 65 tests at 31.32 (First class average of 52.23)
- Mark Ramprakash 52 tests at 27.32 (First class average 53.14)

Three cheers for Jonny. I wonder if they English will bother to have a beer with the Indians after the series is complete? Kingfisher can't be all that bad.

Foakes is averaging slightly more than him this series without being hopeless with the gloves

Stokes on Ollie Floginson:
"His work ethic away from playing was very good - he gave himself the best chance of being in a position to win that game for us," said Stokes. "The thing to look at is that he was out on the field, trying to influence the game even though he wasn't feeling 100%.

"A lesser man would have put their hands up, walked away and not even tried."

Delusional.

England produce more spin in there press conferences then what they produce on the field with the spinners.

England now having a competition to find the greatest batter to average 31

“He’s the greatest ever player to average 31 [32.46] in Test cricket,” responded Vaughan. “I’ve not seen a better player that is averaging 31 in Test matches. He makes batting look so easy. You watch him, and he strolls to the crease, and before you know, he’s 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, raises his bat, plays great hits down the bat, and he whips one through mid-wicket.

It's an objective fact.

He is the greatest player to average 32.46.

A player who averages more is automatically excluded from the argument.

Just like I'm the best soccer player born on my birthday who played in my specific backyard. I'm also the worst.

Ollie Robinson makes way for Mark Wood as England retain two spinners
Floginson shouldn't play another test if England are serious.

Australia never allowed Dougie Bollinger to don the Baggy Green ever again after he rocked up to the Adelaide Ashes test unfit that time.
