at one point last season they called off betting on the minor premiership because st george were too far in front. how did that go for them?

Haha you're the idiot that boldly proclaimed that last years grand final would only feature Melbourne, Brisbane or the Tigers. Can you top that?

yep, i was wrong

have no problem with that.

manly were better than i thought, but st george were about as good as i thought after bennett took the big money. that was the single fact that derailed them.

I'd have thought a Top 4 of Melbourne, Saints,Broncos and Eagles would be the norm.

Thats been pretty much the status quo for years.

Same old same old exept neither club has won a premiership since 06 and that is the only one between the two in the last ten years.

talk about taking the facts out of context, you make it sound like melbourne and brisbane choke in the finals, but in the last decade, only 8 titles have been legitimately won, manly have 2, roosters, st george, penrith, brisbane, tigers and bulldogs all have one each.

all that really says is that the salary cap works. team strength ebbs and flows. most sides have hard luck stories when they don't win the premiership. i still would rather follow a strong team that has won more than half their games over the life of their club. Neither melbourne or brisbane have bought many established rep players, they have fostered their own, unlike most of the other 6 teams who have won titles in this last decade.

Storm are on top and playing great footy behind some great players. The Broncos have lost one game to the cowboys in the last couple of minutes to a old style Bowen try. At this stage these's two teams are the bench mark. They play as a team got great coaches and know how to win in tight situations! The rest are day light at this stage but it's still early. After SOO will be a better time to call, always puts a strain on both teams!

Will be good for both teams when QLD win again and bring back that confidence to club footy!

Generally the richest clubs will always be around the top. Despite the salary cap, having an income of $5mill more than other teams seems to allow you to maintain a place at the top of the table. Only odd one out is Manly who are a mid to lower income club but have done well to keep success on the field.

Canberra are the only team that has really stuck it to Melbourne so far and we'll know more about the Raiders after their game against Brisbane this week.

If Canberra are fully fit, they can beat both Melbourne and Brisbane IMO, despite Furners best efforts to keep hiw winning % below 40%.

With Fensom, Dugan and Thompson back, the Raiders should beat most teams.

:lol::lol::lol:

The Raiders suck balls and are nowhere near the top teams in the comp...

Can someone remind me again why we throw extra money at the Storm that they don't obviously need?

of the 6 sydney clubs that have won titles this decade, how many finals series have they missed in those 10 years?

There's a bit of truth in that isaiah. I reckon the old back ended contract is at play. Teams win comps when their squad is cheap -ie they have young guns yet to sign the big contract. Manly's halves were last years version.

Brisbane and Melbourne have class squads, but cant produce (legally) because they both have a glut of players on big contracts. Lets revisit this thread in August and see if a dark horse club like Canterbury, Cronulla or Manly has worked them out.

I blame this entirely on the TAB, why don't they set up some Storm/Broncos losses, by more than 4 points so the +/- effect won't alter the results.
