BULLDOGS

Former Country Origin back-rower Jamie Feeney has been offered a release with more than a year to run on his contract.

Parramatta have chased Feeney in the past

BRISBANE

Test centre Brent Tate is set to wait until after June 30 to decide his future after telling the Broncos he wants to consider other offers.

Has been linked with Parra

CRONULLA

Former Queensland Origin prop Chris Beattie is unlikely to be with the Sharks next season. Greg Bird, Paul Gallen, Jason Kent and Paul Franze are also unsigned.

Gallen has been linked with Parra, anyone want Beattie???

MANLY

After snaring Brent Kite and Ben Kennedy, the Sea Eagles hope to sign one more big name recruit. Timana Tahu, Joel Monaghan and Jamie Lyon have all been linked.

THey are still hoping

NEWCASTLE

Kurt Gidley has reassured the Knights he will honour his recently signed two-year contract no matter where Andrew Johns plays next season, following reports he had a get-out clause if the playmaker left.

Conficting report in the Tele [see below]

PARRAMATTA

English halfback Chris Thorman has been linked with a return to Super League, possibly before the season is out. London Broncos have expressed an interest, while St Helens are reportedly eager to use him on loan. Wade McKinnon and Feleti Mateo have agreed to new two-year deals, while Dean Widders and Luke O'Dwyer will also stay for 2005.

SOUTH SYDNEY

Off-contract prop Paul Stringer may be a target for Cronulla next season. Stringer, who makes his NRL return from back surgery on Sunday, has been given permission to negotiate with rival clubs.

Would Parra want Stringer?

But from the Tele

In another development yesterday, Parramatta are rumoured to be chasing Newcastle halfback Kurt Gidley.

Gidley's new deal is clouded because it was agreed to under the provision Johns would be at the Knights.

The Eels – searching for a halfback – yesterday would not confirm or deny whether they were chasing Gidley.

It is understood Gidley has not officially signed the Knights contract. But Gidley yesterday did admit he wanted to stay with Newcastle.

Like Sullivan, I'd prefer to keep Smith then go after Gidley

Feeney no thanks

Tate would be a good signing but i dont think he will leave Brisbane

Gallen and Beattie would be good buys, they are solid, hard go forward men that would suit the style of play Smith is looking for

Manly who cares

Newcastle, that situation is not for discussion till Johns makes a decision

Parramatta, ill pay for Thormans ticket home!!!!

Paul Stringer use to be a really good prop, on the same level as Mark O'merley. Stringer should have gone to the Bulldogs with O'Merley. Paul can make up for his poor career decision by coming to parra :D

Top piece Hurriflatch- interesting to see whether Tate will seriously even consider to play with us when Bennet hardly loses a player he wants to keep -with the eaception of Hodges a few yrs back- anyway it would be a dream but you never know?

I am a pessimist on this one as Tate would stay for even 70k less per year i think!

We need a class centre to replace Jamie, almost as top priority. Tate's an Australian rep, and would be a handy buy. Not too fussed about the rest - agree sign up those key juniors first, then see what's left.

Re Thorman, he came to us from London Broncos, and they've been going shite this year. I can't see him wanting to go back there in any hurry? While St Helens are much better and well in contention for a premiership win, their half Sean Long will have returned for the finals, meaning any fill in half would probably be displaced again at that stage. Again not something to relocate in a hurry for...

Jason Kent or Paul Franze would be good pick ups. Franze, provided he can remain injury free is a good player. Kent is capable too.

Jamie Feeney would be a great pick up as would Gallen. I think Beattie is past his best though.

Stringer injury free can compete with the best front rowers in the game.

Feeney - was a world killer a couple of years back - but now he can't even crack a bench spot at the doggies....what happened?

Franze - hmmmm, seemed to be a great prospect, got injured and never really returned to live up to the expectations...Cronulla don't really ahve strong 3/4s, yet he can't get out of PL with them.

Beattie - nah, past it...and gets suspended too often.

Stringer - injury prone...but would be good if he was healthy.

Monahan & Tahu & Lyon - keep Jamie on the sidelines, sign up Monahan AND Tahu and leave Manly with seet F.A.

Loaning Thorman?

What is this, soccer?

If we were to loan him, or anyone else.....and this is just a hypothetical, would it free up cap money if his wages were to be paid by the club he was at?

Didn't Canterbury loan Willie T to his ESL club for the back end of last yr? I don't think it frees up cap money, just puts money in the pockets of the Parramatta club.

Tate is a definite target. Confirmed by Brian Smith. We will talk to him after June 30. I'm surprised Tate's going to test the market as most rep class Bronco's usually sign up before June 30 :-k

I really hope we push very hard for Glenn Morrison too as it will give us an unstoppable forward pack.

If we ended up with Riddell, Morrison & Tate (provided the shoulder is given the all clear by Doctor Johnston) that would be an outstanding result and not totally unrealistic either.

There is a shit load of cash available in the market this season much more than previous years so the managers are obviously telling their clients to check it out!! and see waht you can get.

Beattie? HELL NO!!! I said it last year and I'll say it again... keep that sort of garbage where it belongs... well away from this club.

If we're still in the market for a prop (don't see why we should be, but it's been rumoured that we are), then I'd go for Stringer, or possibly Parsons (in the Knights forum they reckon he will be looking for a new club)

I'd take Feeney, his a great enthusiastic player.

He's charge downs are fantastic, allways putting great pressure on the kickers.
