A job for John Lang?

If the unthinkable happened and Wayne Bennett got the arse from the Broncos, does anyone think John Lang would be a good replacement? He's a Queenslander and he has a history of turning round a teams' fortunes. He took Cronulla to the best they can ever hope for (perennial finalists) and took Penrith from dead last to Minor Premiers and champions in 2 seasons. Could he be just the man to return the Broncos to their former glory?

Heard an interview with Lang on Talkin' Sport a while ago, he seemed to take it all in good humour. Said he was coaching very well, has reached a niche in his ability and if anyone (listening) had a job to offer he'd consider it. Can't help but feel a bit sorry for the guy but he was having a good laugh about it

Ideally, after winning the premiership this year, Bennett steps back and takes on a role of coaching director next year, with Jonny Lang moving into the official coaching role. Or Bennett stays on as coach with Lang taking a more general coaching role at the club.

QLD'ers are too stupid to realise that Uncle Wayne is runining their club. Lang is too good for the Broncwits. Take him to Souths and see what he can do there under the tutledge of Rusty?

Woooo! Get a wallop of your dong!

Queenslanders know that Bennett's time has well and truely passed, but he pretty much runs the Broncos so he will be the one who decides when he goes. As a Bronco hater I love watching it unfold every year.

I just want to know who the scapegoat will be this year after he blamed his shortcomings on his assistants last year.

Whoever fills Bennett's position after he leaves will have very big shoes to fill and very high expectations put upon them. It will be the poisoned challace of rugby league coaching - to follow in the shadow of Bennett.

For a club that is still looking for the 'next Alfie Langer', and shortly for the 'next Shane Webcke', and the 'next Darren Lockyer' in future years, the negatives seem to outweigh the positives.

The only person I can see taking over from Bennett and doing a half-decent job would be Craig Bellamy.

I'd take him. Problem with the broncos is they think they have to breed their new coach, they're completely dismissed the idea of going out and buying one. And we could do far worse than a former premiership winning coach.

I'm pretty sure that was a guy that calls up every week, he sounds like John Lang. It's a bit of a gee up. Every week he says if anyone's listening and their lookng for a coach to give him a call, he'll even run the water

No point doing anything in Brisbane while Wayne is there - he runs the show. Even if Wayne goes to consultant and Lang went to the official coach position, everyone knows Wayne would still hold all the power.

Na, leave Bennett there.

Now that he no longer (since 2000) has by far and away the best squad to work with the Broncos will struggle.

Lang should coach Australia, with no club ties.
