Disappointing loss for CCM but there's always next week.

It's amazing how far the game has come to think that a crowd of 40,285 would outrank the highest opening round crowd of an NRL season by 13k.

Uh oh. careful, you will get the tin foil hat brigade of idiots that frequent the main league forum in here with those kinds of comments

How about the rest of the round's crowds in the A-League?

Considering the point of the post that was made, such a response is not that relevant and reinforces my subsequent post about certain folk.

The A-League deserves plenty of credit for what's been achieved under the circumstances. To overcome the WC bid debacle, no FTA for eight years, constant player drain & clubs consistently struggling off the field with finances etc... it's done remarkably well.

Using a supposedly lacklustre weekend of NRL attendances to gain a one-upmanship on other codes is a really shit look though tbh, especially when the A-League has plenty of ground to make up in many other departments.

And that's not burying one's head in the sand about the NRL either, it's got its own set of issues.

The average for the round was actually just slightly than the NRL's average.

It's not having a go at the NRL, just highlighting the growth of the HAL. Up against the NRL opening round 10 years ago the equivalent NSL round barely managed 25k in total (with 7 games) and a decade later that total is more than tripled with less matches per round.

Oops. I missed the key word "higher".

The HAL average for Round 22 was 16,870.
The NRL average for Round 1 was 16,056.

Is that right?

The game has indeed come a long way.

The main forum is awesome reading. Brutus in particular gets all hysterical about this kind of thing and the media reporting of it.

One crowd above the average...

Come on, we're clutching at straws here.

No updated thread to post in, but geeze, The sending off of Berisha tonight in the roar v heart game was just a f**king disgrace.. Shoddy shoddy refereeing.

Little wonder he was distraught at the disgraceful decision.
