News in the SMH today reveals a secret decision by the Parra board was made on the weekend to move Brian Smith sideways into a coaching co-ordinator's role if we lost to both Newcastle and Manly.

Burt's 80th minute effort, and Witts subsequent conversion fixed that.

I bloody hope it doesn't come back to bite us!!!!!

That was all hearsay & confirmed to be untrue by our esteemed and ever reliable CEO Dennis the menace.

lol..true. Why didn't the SMH publlish the story on saturday before the game. They obviously knew about it before then. Could it have been that they thought parra might lose and their story would not come true.

Maybe they didn't know by Friday night's deadline? Who knows?

It's interesting to hear the 'shoot the messenger' line coming back in. Meaning that some believe that the Eels management would not have done anything had we lost those games and gone zip-7?

I believe it would be 100 % true.
I also believe that the club would have called Daniel Anderson by now and discussed a what if....

I honestly think that Smith to Coaching Director and Daniel ANDERSON to coach will be a reality at end of year and that Daniel has already accepted. - Just a feeling I have in my waters......

Misty, I think you're starting to get your means and ends mixed up.

The way I see it, removing Brian Smith would be the means to achieving an end, which is winning football games.

The way I interpret your thread is that your see losing football games as being the means to achieving an end, which is to removed Brian Smith.

As long as we keep winning football games, I really couldn't care less if Brian Smith is signed till 2020.

Nothing mixed up, and I'm not alone with these ideas either.

If Parra kept winning, I'd be happy for Smith to have the job for life. Trouble is, they keep LOSING!

If a lst minute win after 6 losses is enough to convince you that Smith should be retained, you can't be serious about wanting Parra to win anything!

They've only picked up on a bit of speculation from Smiths favourite radio personality from the weekend.

I never said that. My point is I'd rather win against Newcastle and keep Smith for another week than lose just to get rid of him. I still think that barring an fantastic end to this season, he's done his dash at Parra. However, should he pull of a miracle end to the season, then he would therefore have proved that he still has it and I won't begrudge him another season if that's what he wants. The key here is that we must keep winning.

Regardless of whether BS stays or goes, I can't see how Daniel Anderson could possibly be a better solution; do we all forget that he has just been sacked by a club that is having a worse season than ours and that his style is pretty akin to that of Smith anyway. The change needs to be complete, not half-arsed.

just in theory, mind you, but I've always thought Phil Economidis would a good coach post-Smith. I reckon after being the only coach to get the Chargers to a finals series, he deserves a shot with a team that isn't going to fold.

Top call HJ.

It's a shame the Chargers got sacrificed as part of the NRL deal because they were just starting to come good under Ecconomidies. Some of his players have gone on to make very good careers for themselves, most notably Scott Sattler and Marcus Bai.
