a was browsing through my local record shop today when i came across a couple of cds by a band called the EELS (spelt exactly as is and in yellow writing) one cd was from 1996 and the other from 2003 so theve been around for a while, and they must be pretty heavy going by the warning sticker on the cd.

any way has anyone heard of them and if so are they aussie and if so r they EELS fans and if not i wonder why they chose EELS for the name of the band.

Their latest album is called "Hootanany" I wouldn't say their heavy but quite a catchy little "alterna pop" band with some great tunes.

Those who listen to triple J would know who they are!!....those who don't just stick to Guy Sebastian, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.

They're OK, if you like pop bands.

They certainly aint heavy, get played on Tripple J alot, so I gues that are in the "alternative "category.

Not heavy, just a few swearwords. And not Aussie, they're from US. They are basically one guy who calls himself "E" with some bandmates for each album/tour. The band name came about as just an extension of the singer's name.

I have "Electro-Shock Blues" (1998) and "Daisies of the Galaxy" (2000) and can recommend both CDs. As Eela says, quirky "alterna-pop" and Jess's "Mr E's Beautiful Blues" is one of my fave songs!

they have some great songs. as far as movie soundtracks, apart from "Mr E's Beautiful Blues", they also have "My Beloved Monster" which was in Shrek.

The eels have been around for a while now. They shot to fame quite a few years ago with a song???.....shit i forget Nova something however the film clip to this song is quiet decent with the band flying in a alley way!

A good band without being brillant or over the top, they have also sung songs on a few movie soundtracks.
