I just spent half an hour painfully re-watching Woods and his contribution to this Warriors match. Happy Saturday

Each week his stats look ok. Circa 100 run metres, doesn't miss many tackles, seems to 'tick the box' but I never finish a match thinking 'man Woods was great today'.

I counted 28 tackles, but 20 of them I would say were 'heavily assisted' by other players. Most of which were 90% complete but he flopped on top as the 2nd or 3rd man to slow the ruck down, or the player was standing and he would come in for a cuddle at the end.

There were several other points I noticed consistently:
- He's constantly one of the last blokes back onside
- Constantly last or second last in kick chase
- Almost all hit ups are on 3rd/4th tackle

Full notes are in the spoiler below but here's a few highlights:

5.35 - Is walking, ball bounces near him from a Warriors attacking bomb and shows no effort to claim it. A Warriors forward runs past him and they almost create an overlap.

8.47 - Lazy kick chase. Warriors make a half break right through a gaping hole where he should be, if he was in the defensive line. Eventually cleans up but concedes an extra 20 metres as a result

24.26 - No missed tackle, technically, but low effort in linespeed opens up a hole because Brailey tries to cover for him

66.09 - Broken play, Warriors linebreak, technically not a missed tackle because he didn't attempt a tackle.

0.10 - tackle - almost bundled over by Fonua blake
0.58 - tackle - third man in
1.16 - tackle
1.34 - tackle, flop on top
1.45 - tackle, second man in after initial contact, concedes plenty of metres
4.50 - tackle, fonua blake off kick off, one of 3 in tackle and fonua blake gets 10 post contact metres
5.22 - tackle, flop
5.35 - its 5th tackle for warriors, despite not being involved in the last 2 plays is the last bloke to get back 10m (and doesn't even get onside), means he is slow off the mark and can't contribute any linespeed
A bomb goes up, immediately starts walking, even though the ball is within 10 metres of him
It bounces, and Sironen for the warriors, who is a metre or two behind woods, is jogging. He sees the opportunity and runs past woods (who breaks into a light jog) but Sironen is too quick and grabs the ball. He runs an overlap and creates a 2 v 1 but luckily Hiku grubbers inside instead and the play dies.
6.25 - hit up - first of the match on 4th tackle, after getting behind the ball previous tackle. actually a decent run and creates an offload but forces it too much, and the play ends up 6-7 metres behind where he ran to
6.37 - trindall kick on the last. woods is the last person in the team to kick chase
6.57 - tackle, third man in
7.05 - missed tackle on lodge
7.12 - tackle, 2nd man in, about 8-10 metres down field from his initial miss
8.30 - hit up for 8 metres or so on 4th tackle
8.47 - trindall kick on the last. woods is the last person to kick chase. Montoya takes a good catch and makes a half 20m break, right through a massive gap before he runs into Woods who is lagging behind the play and makes the tackle with Rudolf. if Woods had pushed up even slightly he would have easily covered it before Montoya made 20m and got warriors on the front foot.
9.05 - Walsh gets the ball off an offload. There's a big gap between Tracey & woods which he runs toward. Woods is slow to react so Tracey commits hard to Walsh, and gets stepped, before tackled eventually by WK.
9.16 - tackle, is the slowest player off the line so they run at him and make extra metres
9.31 - ineffective tackle, eventually makes it thanks to rudolf
12.20 - tackle, flop
12.40 - tackle, barely. 2nd marker. Fonua blake as first receiver runs behind the ruck and Woods is so slow he cant get near him and Williams misses the diving tackle. Warriors almost score
14.58 - tackle
16.03 - tackle
16.30 - attempts a good tackle but Lodge still makes an offload
17.14 - hit up, 3rd tackle, runs a good line throws a dummy and makes 15m
19.12 - first receiver, pass to Rudolf who is tackled
19.45 - tackle, 3rd man in
20.18 - tackle, 3rd man in
20.55 - hit up, 4th tackle for 11 metres or so
21.10 - Trindall last tackle kick, Woods is last man to kick chase - and is still walking 10m behind the chasers
21.51 - tackle, flop
23.18 - gets an inside ball flat footed, hitup for 6m, takes tackle
23.23 - trindall kicks on the last, hes the last man to kick chase
24.26 - Woods is A defender, 40m from his line on Warriors 4th tackle. He has no line speed (moves literally 1m off his mark) and even starts backpedalling when Fonua blake is barnstorming forward - pre-contact. Brailey has been a little more aggressive and is 2-3 metres ahead of woods. He is forced into taking Woods' man, Fonua-Blake 1 v1. Warriors half is pushing through and Fonua Blake passes the ball to him, pushing through a gap to where Brailey should have been. Maybe this is Brailey's error for taking the wrong man but I guess instinctively he saw Fonua-Blake as the bigger threat and Woods not in the picture. Sean O'Sullivan makes a half break and Williams makes a great 1 on 1 tackle. They kick next tackle with momentum and force repeat set.
24.49 - Woods is subbed off
60.55 - Woods returns, scores are 16-16, Warriors just scored 3rd try
62.11 - Tackle, flop
62.27 - Tackle, first contact, gets carried in the tackle
64.45 - hit up, 10 metres, 2nd tackle
65.43 - tackle, 2nd man in
66.09 - Fonua blake hitup, forces an offload and creates broken play. Woods is slow to react and is out of place in the defensive line. They throw it to Josh Curran, who comes back to Woods. Woods meekly throws an arm out which he easily steps and Reece walsh pushes through a huge hole where Woods should be. They make 40m in a linebreak. Nikora crusher tackle. 18-16. Woods is the 2nd last one to get back onside
68.47 - tackle, 3rd man in
69.17 - ineffective tackle, ends up falling on Brailey who actually makes the tackle
71.20 - tackle, good dominant tackle. 1st marker, massively overcommits to the first receiver for Warriors, Walsh runs right behind him out of dummy half and almost makes a break.
71.45 - tackle, 3rd man in
73.35 - hit up, after choosing to take the tap from a penalty 10m out, with scores 18-16 and 7 minutes remaining
75.05 - tackle, 2nd man in
75.15 - tackle, 2nd man in
76.05 - tackle, good dominant tackle on Walsh
78.45 - hit up, 7 metres
79.10 - tackle

This was sabotage. I am 100% sure he made the call not to take the shot.

Anyone who has studied or had an interest in body language can see Hannay is lying in the presser. Speech pattern changes. Eyebrows and eye movements go crazy. It is known that when people lie they raise their eyebrows a lot to try and portray being open and honest.

Hannay's dont move in normal questioning but are like a yoyo when asked about the penalty

Ha, great stuff. I’ve noticed this ‘non attempt’ to tackle a lot with woods. Doesn’t show up in any stats.

Sam the stats man should come up with a new category called the Woodsy.

He is just taking the pizz. Thumbing his nose at the club and hannay is his wingman.
Bellamy and Robinson would put up with this shit for less than a half of footy.

And the first receiver play???
Where he takes it of the ruck and farms it out?

He need to lose either headband, shave his head and lose the beard. He hides behind that corn ball look like Hannah pretends to be a coach

If you make sure you get yourself as out of position as possible to not make a tackle attempt, you’ll never have missed tackle stats.

Smart by Woods. There are levels to bludging and stat pumping, and he’s about a 99.

Nah not what I meant. I just mean we aren’t entertaining the thought of extending.
What I don't get is, why is he our captain?!

Yes he's senior. He's played a good number of games.

But he isn't going to be part of the team next year. He's mentally checked out.

Why is he our designated leader?
