Dragons refuse Gasnier release

Mark Gasnier will stay with St George Illawarra for at least the next two seasons after the club today refused to grant him a release to go to English Super League giants Wigan.

Gasnier had repeatedly been linked to a move to Wigan but will serve out his existing contract with the Dragons, which runs until the end of 2006.

Excellent news.

1) They might have replaced him with someone who can tackle
2) They'll probably have to release Hornby to pay for him
3) He will get the sh*ts again next year because he was forced to stay, and will probably sit it out anyway

Good luck to Queens, he's the best centre going around at present and it would be a shame to lose him to the pommy comp, even if he does play for the Dragons.
