Ladies and Gentlemen,
it is with extreme displeasure that I post the result of Sunday's A Grade match.
In what can only be described as a pathetic attempt at Rugby League Football the Newtwon Jets were demolished 66-4 by Marouba Lions.
Not since my first season with 10players where this scoreline was a regular have I been so gobsmacked at the lack of commitment and basic errors on display.
From the moment the whislte blew Newtown simply refused to move up in defense. A basic tenant of the game and despite most blokes on the side having played since they were young lads, they simply refused to move up.
There was zero communication on the field. Talk was non existant and our defensive calls were left at teh training paddock.
The only positive thing was that people werent missing tackles, but when each players is gaining ten metres per hitup, what is the point?
Solid games were had by Israel on Dallas Scia Scia, Dallas whom we welcome back from the Wollongong Wolves. Israel is on report for lifting his knee in a run, but should escape penalty.
Toma played hard, despite having a gaping hole in his head (a different hole to the usual one that leaks his brain out
)
Training is tonight (monday) and we deserve to not touch a football, but run and run and do nothing but move up and back in a defensive line. Maybe even sit down in a corner and talk because it would appear we need to learn to do that to.
Funnily enough blokes wanted to talk it up to the ref and the discipline was nowhere to be seen.
Thanks Jeffles for coming down and watching. I apologise on behalf of Newtown Jets A Grade for the inept performance.
I will not tolerate this again from what is by all acounts a brilliant football side, busting with talent. Let us hope the old adage of a team of champions does not ring true for season 2006.
I believe we will have our game at Marrickville next week and i will confirm this later in the week. i know we are playing Coogee Dolphins who are competition favourites and always a tough encounter.
In other news my little under 11s got beat but they had fun. Toyo scored his first try in his second game of Rugby League ever, ON HIS BIRTHDAY! after stepping through three guys! It was fantastic to see!
P.S i have a very large gripe to bring up re JBC players, but will wait to get some confirmation of information.
