Adelaide Crows coach Phil Walsh has been found dead after an alleged domestic dispute in his Somerton Park home overnight.

Just after 2am today, police were called to a house in Bungey Avenue, Somerton Park, where they found the 55-year-old man's body.

Tap the play button above to watch the TODAY Show's live coverage. Police are expected to give a press conference shortly.

Walsh's 26-year-old son has been taken into custody.

His wife is being treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Walsh was a former player in the Victorian Football League in the 1980s, pulling the boots on for Collingwood, Richmond and Brisbane during his playing career.

He mostly played as a wingman.

Following his retirement as a player, he joined Geelong as a strength and conditioning coach before being appointed assistant coach at Port Adelaide in 1999.

He left to become an assistant coast with the West Coast Eages in 2009, before returning to Port Adelaide in 2014.

Later that year, he was appointed the head coach of the Crows on a three-year deal.

Walsh had previously said he had never sought a senior coaching position, but a near-death experience in Peru in 2012 forced him to examine what he wanted for a future.

This is a breaking news article. More information will be added as it comes to hand.

I'd say that these matters are unrelated. I loathe AFL but lets leave this forum clear of that rubbish.

I was going to log on and rant about the unfair media coverage that this scandal has been given.

But seems very distasteful now

Media coverage is one thing, but all the people in my office are more concerned in changing their tips for that particular game.

Now that's distasteful.

Images bring broadcast on the Today show - and the players are all visibly distraught.

Such sad news before their match this weekend too :(

R.I.P.

Surely it can't go ahead??

That would really be a heartless move.

Yeah, that was my thought as well. Postpone the match for sure. Could almost argue to just cancel the whole round.

It will probably be a decision made by the Adelaide players. If they want to play then they will

Maybe, but surely they will be in no state to make that decision.

It has to be the administrators, the fans etc.
