Adrian Peterson indicted on child abuse charges

It doesn't seem that bad to me, but his timing couldn't have been worse. A parent should be able to discipline their child within reason, but I wonder if the NFL will make an example out of him to try and get a tiny piece of their credibility back?

If this is true then this is very serious.

The beating allegedly resulted in numerous injuries to the child, including cuts and bruises to the child’s back, buttocks, ankles, legs and scrotum, along with defensive wounds to the child’s hands. Peterson then texted the boy’s mother, saying that one wound in particular would make her “mad at me about his leg. I got kinda good wit the tail end of the switch.”
Peterson also allegedly said via text message to the child’s mother that he “felt bad after the fact when I notice the switch was wrapping around hitting I (sic) thigh” and also acknowledged the injury to the child’s scrotum in a text message, saying, “Got him in nuts once I noticed. But I felt so bad, n I’m all tearing that butt up when needed! I start putting them in timeout. N save the whooping for needed memories!” In further text messages, Peterson allegedly said, “Never do I go overboard! But all my kids will know, hey daddy has the biggie heart but don’t play no games when it comes to acting right.”
According to police reports, the child, however, had a slightly different story, telling authorities that “Daddy Peterson hit me on my face.” The child also expressed worry that Peterson would punch him in the face if the child reported the incident to authorities. He also said that he had been hit by a belt and that “there are a lot of belts in Daddy’s closet.” He added that Peterson put leaves in his mouth when he was being hit with the switch while his pants were down. The child told his mother that Peterson “likes belts and switches” and “has a whooping room.”
When Peterson was asked how he felt about the incident, he said, “To be honest with you, I feel very confident with my actions because I know my intent.” He also described the incident as a “normal whooping” in regards to the “welps” on the child’s buttocks, but that he felt bad immediately when he saw the injuries on the child’s legs. Peterson estimated he “swatted” his son “10 to 15” times, but he’s not sure because he doesn’t “ever count how many pops I give my kids.”

Hmm interesting, just seems so strange given what happened to his child last year, there's no doubt he's a typical deadbeat dad though.

Not saying he didn't do anything wrong, but in wonder if the boys mother has been holding back just for the right moment to come forward? Custody dispute?

I suspect there is a whole lot more still to come.

The standard has been set with ray rice. Beating a defenseless child is even worse than knocking a woman unconscious. He needs to be suspended indefinitely.

I get the feeling that if Adrian Peterson is cut... There will definitely be someone giving him a 2nd chance.

They won't cut him.

Used to always want to go to America, would never go there now, never know what could happen, too many crazy people.

I won't be surprised if the legal process lets him off lightly if not completely.

It's in Texas first of all, shit's already backwards down there, he's got a top Texas lawyer who will stretch this thing out as long as possible and manipulate a public debate about the rights of parents to discipline their kids how they think is best before this ever goes to trial.

Americans being Americans they will go for it too, "what bout mah rights!" etc which they crap on about, same with the ridiculous gun issue they have every 6 months when a bunch of kids get murdered. More worried about their rights than what is right.

For that reason the NFL should step up and get rid of him indefinitely, show some common sense and decency but the NFL is run by decrepit old billionaires who have zero connection to the real world and have lived in a bubble of cash where they can think and do as they like "just like mah daddy taught me".

And we think we have issues with player behaviour in the NRL!

I'm glad the Vikings stood him down. I also don't believe he'll play again this year. Goodell has learned his lesson after the farcical Rice suspension.

Child abuse is very serious and they'll look to rub him out foe the year.

Also, shame on the Panthers for letting Hardy continue playing.

The USA is a badly broken country.
