Alan Smith Ex Leeds Player

Watching a brilliant BBC documentary on the famous 1968 Challenge Cup Watersplash Final between Leeds and Wakefield and watching the interviews with former players and noticed a player I never heard called Alan Smith and he played for Leeds from 1968-1983 but can't find any info on him on the net considering he had long career with the same club....any info would be appreciated.

Was a great winger for many years. Late in his career he played against the 1982 Kangaroos.

Toured with the Ashes winning 1970 Great Britain team playing every test (5) after the First Test loss to Australia.

Played 11 tests in total 1970-73

Won 2 Challenge Cup Finals 1968 and 1977

Played for England

Played 469 games for Leeds 1962-83

Scoring 283 tries

Thanks for that and a unseen hero and he looked more like a ex Yorkshire Rock musician in the documentary the the other players.
Its sad times but great to knock up on your RL history.

BTW must of been mad starting your Leeds career at the last bit of the swinging 60's with the Beatles and finishing it with the end of Punk

Strangely Wiki has him listed as 10 GB and 3 England and then states that he played the three England matches listed in my link and also the 1975 WC, unless of course he never played any matches in the WC.
