Gardner is a good player but where would you have played in the top grade ? No one is ever going to oust Hayne out of fullback for a few years.

Unfortunately he needed to go to get an opportunity.

They should play Hayne as a winger, but give him a roving commission in attack (like Blacklock had for St George a few years back).

If Gardner has any skill at positional play in defence, and tackling as the last line of defence, then we would have been better off. Jarryd seems disinterested or not very urgent in getting into position to stop the tries when a break is made.

How would having the number two on Hayne's jersey - but having him still sniffing around for involvement in attack as he currently does - make any difference to his game?

And what difference could having someone else in the 1 jersey in defence with a better ability to read the game defensively make to the Eels? I'd say it might have increased the chances of stopping a couple of those tries last night, and hence keeping us in touch with the scoreline.

Disagree if you like, but at least share a different opinion instead of a cuss-word :roll:.

Hayne has far too many attacking abilities to play as a winger close to the line. He needs to see the action and play as a second reciever when called for in attacking opportunities... and if he does that as he should... then all of a sudden you lose one winger and you cannot have that in attacking opportunities in the oppositions 20.

The rest well that's laughable... how many games have we sat back and grinned over T-Rex and Kelly over the last couple of years where they have played like absolute busteds.

We're rid of 1 Keating, hopefully the other one will follow sooner rather than later.

don't care about Kelly as he chased the dollars, Keating however should have been re-signed.

The thing with juniors is its all about the development of talent , not about where someone just grew up ! Sit back and watch K Keating soar under Bulldogs eyes , or the way Hodkinson will flourish or the way Gardner will prosper . You cant just sit back and say :look at our old juniors " , you need to put the work and first grade development in and most importantly back them with your confidence something the eels are not doing.
