The first Alice in Chains album of the decade is about to hit the record stores......

I heard an interesting interview on the Racket last night (Triple J weekly metal show) and Cantrell explained that Elton John recorded the piano track for their Layne Staley tribute themed track - Black Gives Way To Blue.

I've had it for a few days, haven't had time to listen to it thoroughly but I like it so far.

My only gripe is that Will Duvall doesn't get to sing enough. Jerry probably sings more than him and he sings in the more aggressive style that he used on his solo albums a lot (Duvall would have done better singing those parts).

Black Gives Way To Blue (the song) is a nice tribute to Layne.

Had a listen, sounds pretty good, will see what happens with some regular play to find any great songs.

This is one of the better restarts of bands that have lost their singers.

Saw them at SW and the Syd show, thought Du Vall could perhaps pull off a smooth transition... and being one of my fav bands - i'm very keen to pick this up to see how it all transfers on to the recording and also interested in the new material, Cantrell said there would be a lot more vocal harmonization (throwback to good old AiC.)
