hasn't been a good franchise since Aliens... and everything after Alien 3 is an absolute total disaster.

There's much more to the franchise than just the movies though pervy. Some of the comics and novels are top notch too

oh yeah, i'm just speaking of the movies. i have no opinion on the universe expanded from that, except that the latest game also sucked giant swinging c**ks. the original AvP game was great, though.

Alien 3 was alright if you look beyong the plotholes of how the alien got onboard and also how Ripley got impregnated.
Certainly not of the calibre of Alien or Aliens, but as a movie in itself is good.

I disregard the AVP movies, its just a money maker imo.

Alien: Res i think was the weakest of Alien franchise.

The comics and books are great!

Im really looking forward to Aliens: Colonial Marines game and Prometheus later this year!

Prometheus at least has a chance - Ridley Scott is directing it. looking forward to seeing what is made of that.

Resurrection was a steaming pile of shit... but words escape me to describe the AvP movies. some of the fights in the first AvP looked like massive dildos flapping against each other.

:lol: Best description ive heard about AVP.
Agree, full heartedly.

Reports are Weaver would still like to do an Alien 5, which i'm sure if either Scott or Cameron were to direct then it would be alright.

AvP > Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien Res

There is nothing on this earth that is cooler than a predator fighting a xenomorph

I love Alien Resurrection. Not so keen on Alien 3. And as much as they are totally different movies I prefer Aliens over the original. Going to watch them ALL again before Prometheus comes out....

Aliens is by far the best of the franchise but I actually enjoyed Alien Resurrection and it had a pretty good cast too!

Saw a doco by Cameron on Aliens and he used the Vietnam war as the basis for the plot/storyline etc. A well equipped fighting force overpowered by an inferior (in terms of firewpower), but more determined opponent fighting for their existence. Same as Avatar.

Aliens was done on a very small budget of around $16 million but you wouldn't know to watch the movie. Ranks in my top five all time movies. Cast was great, gung ho characters like Hudson, Drake and Vasquez. Hicks was cool and Burke was a real ass!

I like the directors cut too. Gives more of an insight as to what happened to the people in the colony.

Harsh IMO, B-grade to the max but still good to see the nasty buggers in action.

Monster wise though arguably the most scary of all the sci fi monsters.

i'd certainly agree with that. they are certainly some of the best movie monsters ever conceived. HR Gigers work is awesome... such a unique, macabre visual style.

loves his phallic symbolism. lol.

Loved Aliens, one of my favourite action movies of all time.

But if I had to choose which was the better movie - I'd have to take the original. Prefer the pacing, did a wonderful job of introducing the critters to an international audience and for mine is far more intense. Also, I think the sequel owes a lot of it's success to it's predecessor.

Half of the problem with Resurrection was Ripley... she died in Alien3, they should have left her dead instead of coming up with some crap plot about cloning her. An Alien movie doesn't have to have Ripley... it has to have Aliens bursting out of people's chests.

Loved the first 2 (who doesn't)
3 - So much wasted potential.
4. Average compared to the first 2 but didn't mind it.

I've get to get the Alian Blu-ray boxed set. I've got both the DVD boxed sets. lol
