Horrified as I am to be the one to start this thread, Series 5 is actually very good and cleverly done. It's up there with series 1. For those who enjoyed series 1 but loathed much that came after, consider giving series 5 a go. The first half of the series is filmed as a documentary style review of events renacted with actors but told by the survivors. Episode 6 reframed the series by converting it into a reality television show whereby the actors and survivors come together a year later. It's quite clever and very watchable.

Postscript: Series 1 was excellent. Series 2 was moderatley enjoyable. Series 3 was terrible but I saw it through. Series 4 was so unwatchable I abandoned it mid-way through.

Good to hear series 5 revives the franchise. If you haven't watched Masters of Horror, that's some pretty amazing TV, especially when you look at the directors they get. And then there is Nightmares & Dreamscapes : From the Stories of Stephen King, which has one of my favorite stories Battleground, where Toy Soldiers come to life. Awesome ep.

I started series one and was impressed at first, then it descended into utter rubbish. My mate tried to tell me the subsequent series were better but I never bothered.

So if you tell me series 5 is as good as series 1... yeah nah
