Impressive news getting both Elmurst College and Lewis University to take part in a Development series.

With there now being three teams in the Chicago region, surely you can't be far away from moving beyond just being a development/minor league competition, to being recognised as a proper conference?

We have been at a similar stage before when we had four teams developing in 2012 and that didn't kick on so we don't want to get ahead of ourselves yet.

Elmhurst and Lewis are both college rugby teams so they are unavailable during the summer months to participate in a fully fledged conference. As a result this is only a spring development league concept for now.

What it does though is give us a chance to expose more guys to playing RL in Chicago and allow the Stockyarders some regular local opposition. We believe that in time we can grow a Chicago based conference to eventually feed into a national playoff scenario.

Having regular competition is always good for growth, recruitment, and sponsorship. You guys should have a large talent pool in the Chicago area. I know you're probably doing it already but marketing these matches to potential fans, players, and sponsors will go a long way.

Glad to see you guys getting some momentum. If there is anything the USARL can do to help out, don't hesitate to ask.
