Amos Roberts signs for Roosters
July 5, 2004

THE NRL's leading try-scorer Amos Roberts has agreed to join the competition's leading club, the Sydney Roosters, next season.

Penrith utility Roberts, scorer of 16 tries in 15 appearances this season, today agreed to join the premiership favourites on a four-year deal.

Roosters chief executive Brian Canavan was thrilled to welcome Roberts to the club.

"Amos has proven at St George and Penrith he can score a try, has blistering pace and has the ability to play in any back-line position," Canavan said.

"We are extremely confident Amos will fit into the Roosters culture and the game plan Ricky Stuart has laid out for him

I wonder how Roberts would go. I wouldn't say changing clubs is probably the ideal situation for him. After some poor form at the Dragons he found a home at Penrith and played some great footy. Whether he can change clubs again and keep his form up shall be interesting.

no surprise, but gee its annoying, especially as they still might have Fittler.....i have read reports suggesting they are trying to lure Fittler back from retiring this year????????

I read the same thing about Fitler. I don't think it was the club though, I think it was the sponsors wanting to lure him back into the game. Fitler's already done one backflip though, wouldn't surprise to see him do another.
