The World Cup semi final happening on the same day is not the point. His own club Bath were playing Wasps away in a premiership game at exactly the same time as England v France (Rugby League) and Sam chose to watch the Rugby League game instead of going to watch his own club. The Union game must be boring him after all

He went from the worlds best RL forward to a flop in RU. He wanted to be SBW so bad , just cut your losses and go back to Souths

Sam Burgess going to watch his brothers play?

Maybe Sam couldn't find it on the television because it wasn't on, I'm sure he was glad to join the bumper 8,000 crowd at the world famous Leigh Sports Village to watch his brothers play for a national side from England. Meanwhile, 160k in Twickenham to watch four non UK teams and an audience of 4 million on FTA in the UK to watch New Zealand - South Africa alone. Doesn't look good for rugby union at all at all.

It's unfair to call him a flop yet.

He wasn't even playing the correct position in the world cup. A year in the back row and he'll be a very good rugby union flanker. Whether he wants to stick around is another thing, tbh I don't see why he would be bothered beyond pride. He can make a lot of money playing rugby league and will have a RLWC to look forward to.

He has carried a fair bit of blame on the English rugby Facebook page, when really the entire team was a flop. Hilarious and amazing to watch them fail at home.

You can't really be a flop when you walk straight into a national team after a handful of games in a sport.
Yes you can... When you look completely lost on the field...

He had no business being on the field... If his legacy in RU is what he produced in this World Cup... He's a flop...

But he's no worse a flop than the rest of his team mates...

Anyway... Why the f**k are we talking about an english bench player... He can f**k off back to obscurity as far as I'm concerned..

Yes you can. Says a fair bit about the aims of the people who put him in that position. Was never going to be a match winning move.

I can't see why it is such a big deal for rugby players to cross rugby codes and go alright. There are plenty of examples of success stories. This certainly is not one of them. As dominant as he was in RL, there isn't really a spot for him in rugby unless he is willing to learn - and it was never going to be at centre, and not in a test side.

So if your father revealed to you that he represented his country in a Rugby world cup, you wouldnt think that was a source of family pride and a tremendous achievement?

Let alone do it 12 months after starting the sport.
