Paul Rauhihi

Warrington need to offload him asap, he has had a poor year but tonight just capped it off.

The 17 yo in the opposition showed him how it's done.

He was awesome in his last season in the NRL and everyone thought he'd be a great signing for the Wire. He's been shocking as you say and was the difference between the sides tonight. Had another player been running onto the balls he lazily knocked on, Warrington would be planning a trip to Hull, not mourning their exit.

Bradford are awful.

It's funny

All the big names which go to the ESL from the NRL, pretty much turn out to be dud buys (bar Jamie Lyon)

Then you look at no names which went to the ESL and are playing great. Brent Grose, Michael Korkidas..

Rauhihi's defence was appalling as well and he is taking a huge chunk out of the salary cap, they really need to find a way to get rid.
They have 4 good young props coming through in Andy Bracek, Mike Cooper (rated equal to Burgess) Ben Harrison and Pickersgill but it looks like 1 or 2 may have to go to keep this Rauhihi fellow, what a joke.

I hate to say it, but apart from the game styles being different and maybe taking some time to get used to, I just think it comes down to how much these signings apply themselves as to how well they go in Superleague?

The "no name" aussies Mr C mentioned come feeling it's an opportunity to prove themselves and develop their game, and hence plug away consistently and earn the rewards. Maybe other guys who were first grade NRL standard sometimes come over and don't have the same motivation to develop on their games, mentally clock off and represent poor value signings for their clubs.

If I was recruiting for a superleague club, I wouldn't worry about established/older first grade NRL players too much. If there was a need to use the import quota places, then I'd be looking at Premier League for guys who are being held back behind some star players in their chosen positions. Get them guys over cheaper than name stars, and watch them champ at the bit to develop and be good value.

But as has been said there's plenty of locals in the English game with the same motivation and value for money, who should be able to get the chance to develop their games to the next level.

ESL clubs just need to be a bit more perceptive and clever in their signings, watch more closely and not wait until the horse has bolted.

tbh, I guess that's probably true of all clubs in all sports, but anyway.....

Rauhihi wasn't awesome in 2005, it was his worst season in ages. He was awesome in 2003 and 2004, should've been signed then. He started to go a bit soft in 2005 and never take the ball to the line properly, and I'm guessing that has continued at Warrington. Also keep in mind he's what, 33?
