tend to agree but would bet a large sum of money that it won't.
Like the Dally M's it will probably be decided by a Ch Nein circlejerk

Big Norm should have been an immortal years ago.He has that status anyway with us Dragon supporters who have followed and saw the great man on the field back then.
If not inducted this time I doubt he will ever be added. He has all the attributes if not more to be classifed as an immortal.

Onya Sticks !!!

Cheers Lancelot

I find it extraordinary that he was ever overlooked despite receiving just about every other accolade:

The Australian Rugby League Hall of Fame, Rugby League's Team of the Century, holds numerous records including 10 grand finals wins which will never broken, featured on the NRL premiership trophy, the greatest second rower of his generation, represented Australia 14 times and NSW 19 times, and has an unblemished record off the field to make him a perfect ambassador of the game...

But a Rugby League Immortal? You would think it would be a no brainer.

SHOULD be, but they'll give it to that dumb thug Meninga.

Only way Mr Provan may get it is if they do both Him and Mull at the same time.

Are the original rules still in place?

One of which was the original judges were only allowed to vote for players they had actually seen play. Pretty limiting.

Who are the current judges?

Are there nominees or can the judges pick any old bugger from oblivion?

As long as it's not Andrew Johns or Smell Mafinger.

Meninga seems to be the favourite which is beyond my comprehension given that rugby league gave him nothing according to him ... Norm Provan as Willow pointed out should be a certainly in any fair dinkum vote.

If the current judges are Nein's spank club there is a fair chance that Bumji will pick up the gig.

The irony with Mandingo is that he collects a 6 figure pay packet plus expenses from the QRL for coaching 3 matches a year.
He also has a nice dodgey going on through a side business.

Tony Durkin RLW founding editor - retired

Ray Hadley Y (grrr)
Mitchell Dale Current RLW editor

Roy Masters Fairfax media

at least a lot of them would of seen Norm play, which is a plus :)

Were those descriptions from RLW or your own ?

Durkin was defintely not the founding editor of RLW and there is a slight spelling error which i fixed for you.

my take...

Credible
Ian Heads former RLW editor
Norman Tasker former RLW editor
Wayne Bennett 7 time premiership coach
John Grant Chairman ARL Commission
Roy Masters Fairfax media

Agenda driven cocksmokers
Ray Warren
Tony Durkin former RLW editor & former Bronco employee - genius
Ray Hadley
Phil Rothfield

Unsure
David Middleton stats gimp
Martin Lenehan RLW editor - retired (don't know)
Mitchell Dale Current RLW editor (don't know)

Don't know about Lenehan or Dale but only the guys in the credible group plus maybe 1 or 2 of the second group would have seen Sticks last go round 47 years ago.

I'm inclined to think Heads, Tasker, Bennett and Masters would all have Sticks on their A list. And maybe a couple of others too.

Not a fan of Middleton - he knows his stats but in my opinion struggles grasp the growth of the game or true meaning of its history.

Provan, then Coote. Meninga is still employed in the game. Blokes like Johns & Fittle etc can wait their turn, give it to Provan and Coote now while they are still with us.
I'm nt even 100% that Johns rates as better than Sterlo, Mortimer, Stuart and especially Langer. He couldn't make the NSW team ahead of Scummorley fgs.

Remember that quote all too well. And I could see the prime minister giving him the award in saying sorry for your people, not to mention his politics and brothers murder charge.
