How is Andrew Symonds not in the test team already?

Is he injured or just being overlooked?

He is the most complete cricketer in the world and IMO should be playing ahead of Martyn and Katich.

It seems like he gona be like Michael Bevan; the saviour for our one-day team but never getting a decent chance at test cricket. Hopefuly in the 4th test Australia include him and Kasprowicz or else theres no chance of us winning.

His chance in Sri Lanka-at the expense of the very in form Simon Katich-was an unqualified disaster.

I feel he should play. Clarke is probably going to be out injuried so replace him if you want to keep Katich. Symonds showed in the World cup he could change his tactic to suit the game. Hopefully he will be our answer to Pitersen.

he's a great ODI batsman but he's not a test all rounder

his bowling relies on tying them down for a few overs, but I doubt he'd get test match wickets

Well he wouldn't play for a bowler it would be for a batter. We could use him like we did with Lehmann but probably a bit more. Key is his batting as thats why he is in the side.

We can't keep going with the same old format and hope we get better. We are deadset struggling at the moment and IMO its largely to do with only having 4 bowlers in the team. 4 bowlers is alright when all 4 are firing but atm we are carrying Gillespie and the workload is too great for the other 3 with very little variety.

Theres not much room for batters to take out of the team if you want Andrew Symonds to have a dig.

IMO the team should be.

Hayden, Langer, Ponting, Martyn, Clarke, Symonds, Gilchrist, Warne, Kasprowicz, Lee, McGrath 12man: Katich

Gillespie has gotta get the cut. A bowling average of 100 is way to huge.

Well it would really matter what he was classed as if he came into the side it would be for a batter. People were saying Kevin Pietersen wasn't made for test cricket look how well he did. Symonds are very similar to him.

Can Hodge play reverse swing. Infact calling any batter that can play reverse swing baggy green on offer. I really hope Clarke is fit he wasn't too bad until he got a ripper.

I think Symonds does deserve another chance at test cricket. He can't be judged making his debut in Sri Lanka. That would be a prick of a place to play your first tests, especially against Murali.

And to make things in your argument even worse, they were both played in the traditional batting mecca's of Sri lanka :roll: .

Its attitude's from new south welshmen like yourself that are the reason this team has peaked and is now declining, as opposed to maintaining our position at the top. Ie, if its not NSW dont bother.
