Frenchman Benjamin Garcia, who had an apprenticeship with the the Brisbane Broncos feeder team Wynnum Manly in 2013, before returning to Super League team Catalans Dragons in France, has been signed by the Penrith Panthers for 2016. He is originally from Avignon, in southwest France.
At the Catalans this year Garcia has bloomed as a prop, second rower, lock, and even as a centre replacement. This is because he is not only strong, but also as fast as many outside backs, and has a great sidestep. Garcia has scored 7 tries in 12 appearances for Catalans in 2015, including 3 against Castleford and 2 against SL title holders St Helens. He will carve it up in the NRL, especially if Penrith play him on the edges, preferably as second rower.
He is only 22.
