Well, cant say I'm surprised but here we go again- on the strength of 1 half of football (40 minutes) Sheens has judged Benji a success at half and will play him there next year.

For crissake 1/2 has been our problem since Prince left and having people play out of position (Morris, Farah and now Marshall) does not seem to evoke much success for us. If he was that sure of this being ther way to go for next year why didnt he shift Marshall and give him a few games there once our season was gone to make a realistic judgement.

Why cant our Board do the same as Penrith and have the coach front them and give reasons why he should stay.

I am with you 100% on that one,we need a real half, not Farah,Benji or Morris.

The bit that really grates at me is that if this fails (and being a pessimist after WT's record over the last few years and Sheens judgement being what it is), we will not have a proper 1/2 again in '09 and we are doomed to repeat 06, 07, 08....................

If damn Sheens is that sure Marshall to half is "his answer" to the perennial 1/2 problem why did he not shift him earlier and give him a proper chance to perform (or not) at 1/2. Now, if he fails next year too late to recruit a 1/2. Whereas if tried now and he fails, we could recruit. I suppose we have as fallback the halves in Magpies and Tigers lower grades- but great one Sheensy.

Great I'm looking forward to failure in 09 - nothing to be bright about.

What do we have to do to get WT's management energised and proactive? Seems like they are just roos dazzled in the headlights....... can see the car coming but wont do a damn thign abot it.

That result for the last round will prove to be detrimental. It will allow Sheens, Simmons and the gaggle of overpaid hacks to coast through to 2009 for another serve of ordinariness. Gold Coast hardly busted a gut for the dead rubber, yet the staff and team will all get the same pass they get for the 1 non-pathetic show following a baker's dozen of ineptitude and bludging. Sheens will get another year to "realize his vision" of the "next Cronk" or the "next Thurston". Lather, rinse, repeat for 09.

This is my first post on the forum :D, I'm a Tigers fan as the name suggests as well but anyway, to the point.

I believe the Tigers had a good solution in the halfback problem in the form of Mathew Head. He had a good few games mid season until he got injured and now the Dragons have snapped him up again.

I don't think we should write next season off just yet, there is still the slightest of hope. It will probably end up like this one though, as we'll be sitting back in September kicking our backsides at the missed opportunities.

Now to the positions:
Morris at half back is horrible, the guy can't kick or really create much.
He is a very good quality hooker though, he is a great tackler and can get through a lot of work.

I wouldn't play Benji in at 1/2 nor even 5/8 but at Fullback. That way he can come up into the line during our attacking sets, and drop back for defensive sets. Chris Lawrence would make a good running 5/8, but I'm unsure as far as creativity is concerned. Moltzen could work with a bit of help over the next season or so, trying to perfect one position rather than play every. This leaves the problem of halfback of course, we need a specialist. We should have gotten Brett Seymour after he was dumped by the Broncos, after all, look what he's done at the Sharks this year.

I pull this all back to Sheens and I point the finger at him. His coaching is rather terrible, he barely calls up any younger guys and keeps insisting with his stupid line ups. Once Bryce Gibbs is out of the line up, we can finally be optimistic.

I think Benji will be a great player at halfback. The more times the ball is in his hand the better for the side. The only thing that will stuff up Benji playing at halfback is Farah playing at hooker and hogging the ball.

I agree, Benji didnt look to crash hot at the start of the year but I do think he has the potential to play well. If he's playing half & Farah is at hooker, that means no place for Morris. And that will do me just fine thanks

I disagree, the more ball Benji gets the more he tends to overplay his hand. He is at his best when he is getting the ball once a set and improvising. He can't organise the side.

Sheens is ruining both Marshall and Farah, if they aren't already there. Much of what is going on with those 2 stemmed directly from the masterstroke of placing someone like Morris in at Halfback, and leaving him there for an eon.

They've gone feral, and I am not sure that anything less than an imposing senior Halfback can solve it any more.

Benji has 1 year left on his contract and rumours have it that he will move on after that! so even if he is a sucess at Half (not likely) it will be back to square one without a number 7 again after 1 season.
