Sudden death rocks pro wrestling world

Professional wrestler Brian Adams — best known as Crush in the WWE world — is dead.
The 43-year-old died overnight with the cause yet to be determined, a statement said.

An autopsy will be performed on Wednesday.

His wife found him unconscious in bed and dialled 911 but Tampa paramedics were unable to revive him.

Adams was a member of the more hardcore wrestling unit known as Demolition, whose members were notorious for slathering black paint on their faces and donning leather straps as part of their outfits.

Adams' life wasn't without scandal: according to fan pages, he was allegedly arrested in 1994 for carrying steroids and a stun gun.

He was later acquitted of the drug charges.

The tragedy comes at an awkward time for WWE, which has been under the public gaze following the murder-suicide of Chris Benoit in June this year.

Benoit, his wife Nancy and their seven-year-old son were found dead in their Georgia home by police.

Investigators later concluded that Benoit murdered his wife and son the weekend before, and then hanged himself a few days later.

That is indeed sad news. I remember him mostly as one half of WCW's very awesome Kronik tag team - who the WWE brought in during the invasion and squashed like there was no tomorrow. :(

He last wrestled in the WWE in 1997 as part of Dicyples of Apoclypse with Chains and 8 ball.
He joined WCW and immediately had a mini feud with Brett Hart with Crush joining the nWo.

WWE has no part in this death.

He actually finished wrestling in the WWE with Adamn Bomb who was his Kronik team mate... After the WWE and WCW joined up...

I remember when he used to be in the same team as doink

Demolition were huge back in the real days of tag team wrestling! Believe it or not the first match that actually got me resally interested in wrestling was a no-holds barred match between crush and randy savage at one of the wrestlamanias i saw on wide world of sport.

I remember him first as crush when he feuded with doink the clown climaxing at the wrestlemania where bret hart got dusted by yokozuma then hulk ran in to help him and beat yokozuna for the title a few minutes later. He was later arrested for steroid and automatic weapon possesion i believe.

A solid wrestler and a big pat of the 90's golden era of wrestling!

RIP big man!

RIP Bryan Adams

Regardless, and without showing disrespect - this 'Sudden death shocks the wrestling world' is hardly a credible headline considering he wasn't a current member of talent

I best remember him as a member of the NWO and as a tag team partner with Bryan Clark who together made Kronik. Apparently it was all about breaking necks and cashing cheques. Anyway sad news and may the boaderline jobber rest in peace.

Problem is even though they might be trying to crack down on drug use in the business, some just get addicted to pain killers etc. Is there any further info on the cause yet?

it is true that Demolition were huge. Quite possibly the biggest and most popular tag team ever, although i would probably rate them second to the Outsiders. They started as a "copy of the Road Warriors" but their popularity was massive. They pretty much earned the highest accolade possible (previously attained in the WWE only by Hogan and Warrrior when they were allowed to 'dominate' Andre the Giant. From recollection (and i may be a little off) they won the world tag titles from the also popular British Bulldogs as the first heal team since before Wrestlemania I at least to win the title cleanly. They then held it for over a year, which was a record. When the Road Warriors finally showed up as the Legion of Doom and took on Demolition they had moved back to heals after a successful face run (where they beat Andre). LoD dominated the feud. But, it didnt go down well. Demolition created history (again, since before Wrestlemania I, at least) by becoming the first ever tweener. Certainly not the brainchild of Vince McMahon though. The fans simply cheared a heal demolition. The more bad they do, the more they cheared. In fact, it was so bad that Vince actually had to dub the crowd over the productions to get rid of the demolition cheering (no live tv in those days). Sadly, Ax of demolition contracted a heart disease and could no longer wrestle full time. This is when Bryan Adams was introduced as Crush. Crush added a different dimension to the team, but as with all teams, when you get away from the original it is already the beginning of the end and eventually they eventually left.

IMO, Kronik was definitely Bryan Adams best role. He didnt do that much as a singles wrestler, but when vince russo took over the WCW, he became sensational when he formed with Bryan Clark. He was pretty much the only decent thing to come out of the Russo era Although technically they had formed before Russo but were waiting on Clark rehab from an injury and i guess you could probably also giving him credit for the promotion of Booker T (minus GI Bro), and some others but that is a different topic. It was amazing the way Adams style complemented clarks and he transformed instantly from average wrestler to one of the stars of the company. Kronik could have been one of, if not the best ever, tag teams. They built up to a huge (for the falling WCW of the time) feud with Goldberg after holding the tag team titles. God only knows who thought they should have been squashed (both of them) in two minutes but it was a disastrous decision and for some reason they were buried a little from here. When they returned to wwe, they had massive potential. They could have easily became the no 1 tag team again, but in a ridiculous decision, they were fired after one match with Kane and the undertaker. It is often assumed that this was a dreadful match, but it wasnt. It was no different to most Kane and Undertaker matches, and to be honest was as good a match as you expect. I expect that the crowd reaction was a little mixed because many people didnt really want the Face Brothers of Destruction to defeat Kronik.

All in all, i think Bryan adams was a good wrestler and it is a shame that Management didnt give him a bit more of a push and support at certain crucial stages of his career as he would have been a major player if they had.
