Anstey to Melbourne?

The Melbourne Tigers could be set for an influx of Boomers stars with Chris Anstey heading a list of players reportedly looking to head to the Victorian capital for next season.

Anstey and fellow Olympians Sam Mackinnon and Jason Smith are all hoping to head to Melbourne to settle, with all three now in possession of young families.

Mackinnon's contract with the West Sydney Razorbacks ends at the conclusion of the current NBL season, as does Smith's with the Sydney Kings, while Anstey is set to return from Russia where he as been playing with Superleague title contender, Unics Kazan.

Anstey will head back to Melbourne with his wife Linley and their children and there has been some suggestions that he has indicated he would like to join the Tigers if he plays in the NBL.

However Anstey's father Ken denied that his son had come to any agreement with the Tigers, although he was prepared to admit the club and player had held some talks to that end.

"There's certainly no undertaking at the moment," Ken Anstey told Melbourne's Herald-Sun.

"But my guess is if he came back he'd probably play with the Tigers to be with friends and family. That doesn't mean that's going to happen. We've certainly been talking (to the Tigers) about it, but that's about as far as it goes."

The Tigers have not sat down to work on the roster for next season at this stage, with the future of veteran Andrew Gaze to be decided before any new season changes are put into action.

I dont really have much of an opinion on Anstey going back to Melbourne but I dont want Jason Smith leaving the Kings. :(

But if the Tigers do get McKinnon, Anstey and Smith they could very good chance of getting a title next season.
